LWFW vs. DMFW, Rev Hang, Southbend Stg II Reviews?

    Hi all,
While my engine is out for timing chains I'm considering replacing the clutch.

I've always been annoyed how the weight (26.5 lbs) of the stock flywheel causes the revs to hang between shifts. I'd really love to find a solution that allows the revs to drop quicker between shifts.

So I'm considering a single mass lightweight flywheel. Southbend sells one that weighs 20 pounds. I like the sounds of this better then the JHM lightened flywheel that weighs 14 pounds. I want to avoid shutter and noise at all costs.

Does anyone have any experience with the Southbend light weight single mass flywheel? Do you experience any noise, or other drawbacks? Anyone with the the JHM kit?

Does a lightweight dual mass flywheel exist for our cars?

    I would appreciate any feedback.

i think the rev hang i'm experiencing is due to the stock tune . . . it only happens at low speed (parking lots for example) and in 1st and 2nd gear.
    nothing in 3rd and on

JHM LWFW here. Love it but as you indicated, there is some chatter at low rpms and can get a bit jumpy if you're not diligent starting from a stop (I'm sure the JHM 1R clutch is a factor as well).

If you're going LWFW the general consensus is you're going to get some chatter, it's science. As jakeboy indicated, another approach to helping throttle response is to go with a tune.

Unless there's a big price difference, go with the JHM unit and capitalize on as much weight reduction as possible. My .02.
