Need advice on replacement of my 2006 B7 2.0T manual engine

I need to replace my 2006 A4 Quattro 2.0T engine w/ manual trans, due to timing belt failure and all the stuff that goes along with that situation... I've been trying to search online for an available used engine and have found a couple available, but have heard that i need a BPG type since that's what i am replacing. Based on the descriptions, the ones i have found don't appear to be BPG, and instead are BWT. Honestly, I'm concerned that i may unintentionally purchase an engine with the wrong specs and be screwed. If anyone can give me advice and point me in the right direction on this and any other critical things to take into consideration, i would greatly appreciate it. Also, if anyone knows of good/reliable sources for the engine that i need, please let me know.

    Thank you!

Any 2.0 from a B7 is a direct replacement, im in the middle of doing that RN. I have a 2006 into my 2008.

I have a 2.0t from the 2008, it needs some attention so if a minor engine build is in order, ill sell cheap and im 90 miles away.

Not true. Any MANUAL engine from a b7 will work. The automatics have different crankshafts.

I believe, however, that any bpy engine (from a transverse VW) should work just fine. You'll have to transfer all the accessories over as well as some of the cooling flanges and hoses.

And oil pan and oil pickup. I'm running a BPY block and crank in my car right now.

I put in an inquiry with Shokan, but they currently have no used B7 2.0t quattro manual trans engines available. Anyone know of some other sources for good used B7 engines?

My friend replaced bpg with bwe(bwe is the same as bwt just for europa) (automatic) and it is the same engine, just one detonation sensor is unused.

Plenty of engines on eBay. Generally in the $2000 shipped range. Also look at car-part.com.
