APR Variable Mode ECU - Possible to add Aditional Tunes (not via APR)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Basically as it says on the tin.

The black s4 had an APR ECU upgrade with switchable modes via the cruise control stalk.
Once I swap over my K04s & fuelling, is it possible to have a tuner provide 2 (or more) alternate tunes and retain the mode switching capabilities, or is this sort of functionality locked for only APR to edit?

    Let's say:

No it's not possible, those ECUs have chips soldered on which means you can never retune that ECU again.

If the soldered chip is removed, the ECU can be reflashed (My main ECU is this situation). However, non-APR tunes on an APR chip-slot is not possible AFAIK.

    Fawwwwkkkkk.

Such a cool feature to have. I have 2 other ECUs, so I suppose I'll use one.

I think some tuners can/could do map switching; Daz and Phil-a-dot at least.

What Hayden said, there are now in car switchable tunes available that don't require any chips or soldering.

Motoza is big in the 1.8T tuning world, and they offer 2.7T tuning as well (remote tuning, by PC or via Bluetooth for Android). I run Motoza's switchable tune on my B5 1.8T, currently with 4 modes: 1) economy/valet; 2) 91 octane; 3) 93 octane; 4) E85. Needless to say I've been running E85 exclusively for 11 months now, but we dialed in the 91 octane tune before I switched over.

If I were to switch fuel types, I can literally do this from my Android phone while filling up at the pump. Same thing if I were to have my car valet'd and I was running gasoline.
