    Windshield Washer Sprayer Clogged?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just tried to use my windshield washers for the first time in a while but no fluid came out. Fluid reservoir is full and I can hear the usual noise from the sprayer motor(s) when I try to activate it.

Could it be clogged? Anyone know a solution?

How cold is it right now? I've certainly had mine freeze on me before.

Happened to me a couple times before too. It's in the 60s though. Hasn't been below freezing in about a week.

Do you notice anything blocking the nozels? With temps in the 60's I'd be hard pressed to think it's frozen, heh.

Didn't look that close. Maybe there's some salt or corrosion in the nozzles or something. What's weird is that there's no fluid is coming out at all despite having a full reservoir and what sounds like a functioning pump.

The pump will still function if there's no pressure in the lines. Just be careful about trying to let it run for too long without fluid going through it, because you can easily burn out a motor by doing that. The I/C spray kits on Evo's and STI's were known for burning out when you inadvertently ran them dry, and they work exactly like windshield washer motors in most cars. Inspect the nozzle and see if you see any clogging. Maybe take a safety pin and delicately poke the nozzles to see if they open up. I have actually had magnesium chloride block my washers before on another car. That's the salt crap they put down on the road here.

Take a needle or safety pin and poke it through the holes on the sprayer. There are three holes per sprayer. This is also how you adjust the angle on them if you need to. If that doesn't solve your issue then you have a clog somewhere else. Tiny specks of dirty and stuff build up in those sprayers over time if you aren't using them much.

Suck on the nozzles while someone activates the washers. Post pics.

If none of the nozzles are working, I'd think you've got a blockage or leak in the line that feeds the nozzles vs all the nozzles themselves.

Or the pump even if it's running it might be toast.

Fixed it! It appears that the line got pinched between the hood and the hood strut mount when the hood was closed. Moved the line aside and the sprayers work just fine now.
