Hi guys. I have a 2013 Audi A5 2.0t coupe tiptronic. My car is also not quattro (lame :( )My friends are asking me to do ECU flash. what do you guys recommend? APR ECU flash?

Another thing is, is it safe to do that?

In terms of long-term on the engine and gearbox. Will it be safe? If i were to do this, is there any parts that I need to change? for example the air intake things and etc. I am completely new to all these and have no knowledge about it. Really appreciate it if you guys could explain to me.

Stage 1 Apr intake is optional, stage 2 I believe they say you should do intake and exhaust. Otherwise it should be safe. I haven't heard any stories of issues specifically because of APR, but if you have other engine related issues Audi may deny warranty claims.

My local shop has offered to flash back to stock if anything comes up before i take it in for service.

Yes, totally safe. A stage 1 tune from APR or GIAC will make a big difference, and no parts will need to be changed out - just a quick software flash. Although I'd recommend committing to changing your oil every 5k and possibly running higher quality stuff than what your dealer may offer - Mobil 1 Euro 0-40 will do the trick - and it's pretty cheap.

If you want more power you can always do a high preasure fuel pump and high flow catalytic converter and go for a stage 2 tune from someone like APR. If you want more power than either of those options then you'd be talking about having to go for a larger turbo/fuel injectors/intercooler. Still safe for the transmission considering you have the 8 speed gear box which is very strong and the engine can more than cope with the stress - the 2.0t is pretty tried and true with a lot of people tuning them with little issue if done right and with quality software and supporting hardware.

    good luck

Piggyback systems like RaceChip are a pretty common alternative to ECU flashes, at least on the 3.0T motor. Although the piggyback unit of choice on these forums (this/S4) seems to be ChipWerke. I found a few threads on RaceChip by using the search, might be faster than waiting for someone to respond.

I have a 13 a5 quattro and have been looking into APR stage 1 & 2. I have a k&n air intake filter just a drop in one and also plan on installing a gfb DV+ which I picked up off ebay.
As for the APR ecu flash I'm not sure which one I'll go with, pending cost I may just jump to stage 2. I have a few months left on my warranty before I do anything although I may not wait

    stage 1: no parts required
    stage 2 : down pipe
    numbers for stage 1 & 2
