my avant has a case of the sags. i am thinking about using black faux suede or alcantara. not really sure what to do as the rest of the interior is "like new". anyone know where i can get factory material or have pics of what other material looks like when installed?

Find an platinium silver headliner from an avant an spray it with Dupli Color HVP106 (Flat black fabric dye). You'll need 4-5 cans and the color comes out the same as the oem anthracite.

This is what I should of done, but instead I bought suede and rewrapped the headliner and all the pieces. the suede is a little thicker than the factory stuff so a couple spots I had to really force the pieces in.

I do headliners a lot for friends and myself, i had to redo mine, I got a semi stretch material and used a heavy duty headliner spray, I had to remove the old material and scrape all of the old padding before I went to work on it.

small part i miss-cut and shrank. not noticeable in car though

if it starts to do the same again, there are a bunch of videos on youtube on redoing the whole thing. Good luck and hope it stays up for you, post pics if you can. love to see other peoples work.

Hmmm If I keep striking out on finding a black headliner I might do this.... Local upholstery shop quoted me ~200 to redo to the material professionally, but thanks for the info :)

that sounds like a great price. My avant also decided to get a saggy but this past year. I was thinking of going the route of pulling the rear dome light and spraying some adhesive to fix it. I really didn't want to have to go to the trouble of pulling the whole avant headliner. I haven't looked up the process, but I'm sure it is a bit of a pain with about 100 little clips involved that I would likely break

Isn't the main portion supposed to match the perimeter pieces?

I did this on my old car, just be away that the fabric will no longer be as soft as it used to be.
