    C7.....S6 vs A7?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Looking to buy either a stock S6, or a Prestige A7 (both C7). Love the A7 body style, and don't want to spend the coin on an S7 (lets not even start talking about the RS7).

If A7, would likely want to firm up the suspension (Alu Kruez?), and throw at least a Stage 1 tune on it. Would most likely be the sport package.

Both would be low miles (<30K).

Love the S6 power plant, and wouldn't likely do a tune on this one.

Currently in an S5 with the 7-speed and 3.0T.

Anyone facing this kind of decision, and if so, what did you (would you) choose, and why?

    Cheers and thanks.

I came from an A7, fully loaded..every optional available. I thought it would keep me satisfied and away from an S6, which at the time was about ~8k more.

NOPE. I had the A7 for about a year before trading up to my S6 and I couldn't be happier. The A7 looks better style wise but the performance, interior, and overall exclusivity of the S6 makes its a no brainer! 4.0TT with a tune makes me forget I even owned an A7 :)

I definitely like the exclusivity factor, and don't really want to get into tuning it. Been there already.

FYI, I'm cross shopping the Panamera 4S, which is in the same ballpark, price wise.

S6 certainly, I don't think 7 styling is worth power plant upgrade in S6.

You want exclusive? Get the A7. How many of them do you see in your travels?

The rest of the other models look the same to me. Upright, four door sedans. Nothing wrong with that, they're fine automobiles but I have to check the tag on the trunk to see what model it is.

The Panamera 4S before or after the facelift? When I cross shopped, they weren't in the same price range. I also had a hard time finding a 4S I liked option-wise.

I am super confused(scotchy scotch scotch) and not trying to be an ass, but besides a body style change aren't you roughly just switching cars in a lateral direction? Possibly tune an A7 vs an S6 with the option of tuning later on? I'm Ron Burgundy? S6 ftw!

s6 prestige. don't fuck around nickel and diming things down just to hit a price point while sacrificing in features to the point where you just end up planning on trading up in a couple years because you didn't get what you wanted.

Not really sure about exclusivity. I see a7's day and night, all the time, everywhere, but nobody is buying s6's. they're nowhere.

Exclusivity in the general lay of the land - A7.

Exclusivity amongst those who know what the A vs S means - S6 I guess.

If u Extended the same logic u can go for an RS at the extreme.

Agreed! Love my A7 came from the a6 prestige. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Certainly the S6 has more power etc but is a little mundane body style for me....( def more of a drivers car) in my case i wasn't really looking for a super fast car I wanted something that looked super sporty and unique and I have two kids and the trunk is fantastic. I hardly see anyone in my area with the 7 and unless you are an Audi enthusiast no one will know the diff if your driving an s6 or a6 etc. the body style are about the same.

I can tell you I get way more compliments In the 7 than i ever did in the 6. And my A6 prestige was fully loaded with all the bells and whistles. Take a look at the " random pic thread just for some visuals". You can't go wrong with either car but it really depends on what you want.....

I actually had the exact same question when I started looking at these cars. I would suggest you go drive both. My wager is that if you do, you will choose the S6 without much thought.

I've owned a 2012 A7 prestige and a 2014 S6 with most options. Personally the A7 feels more nimble and planted on highway driving but lacked the sport diff so pushing it through corners was a different (less exciting experience). The A7 also had a feel (by design) of being smaller than it is. Even though it's no smaller than the S6. The hood clearance and visibility from the drivers seat in an A7 makes driving around curbs and perception of where the edges of the car are, a little easier to grasp. The A7 turned more heads, and I had a stage 2 tune on it as well. No slouch at all. But I'll tell you if you have a power bug, and you like modding, the S6 will be what you want. They are both fine cars but when driven hard, the S6 feels like a much more aggressive setup than the A7. I'm sure the A7 has some of the S7s (feel and perception) advantages but you'll pay a little more for those because the body style demands a little higher price point. If you want to run nearly 10s but save a decent penny, get an S6/S7. It will be much more reliable to attempt that task with the S platforms. On the other hand if you want almost the same car while sacrificing that heavy torque and you're more into a responsive engine get an A model and tune it. I'm sure you can't go wrong.

If you like the body style of the 7, I'd buy the A7 and get a tune. It won't be as quick as the S model but it will keep most people happy, although the 4.0TT is addicting once you get a taste of it. If you are not crazy about the A/S6 body style, me personally, I wouldn't buy a car that you have to look at everyday. For me, it was the other way around-prefer the S6. It would be like waking up next to a ugly duckling. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In the long run, it sounds to me that it may be smarter for you to spend a little extra and buy a S7.

Not sure I've ever heard Audi and Exclusivity in the same sentence. IMO the 7 is better looking than the 6. 4 door coupe vs. 4 door sedan. I say ..... sell everything you have and go RS7.

That being an option, I "could" sell the S5 cab sepang with black nappa, b&o, and sport diff to finance the new rs7. Convertible is so nice this time of year.

This is kind of like apples to oranges. IT depends on what you want and like. I have an A7 because I love the car and styling, that said If I wanted more performance(which I do now after having an A7) I would be looking at an S7. I say decide if you like the A6 vs the A7 and then pick an "S".

    C7.....S6 vs A7?

Panamera all day long if dealer experience matters at all(unless you have a good Audi dealer - they seem hard to come by by me). Otherwise S6 over A7. Power plant is worth it.

Interesting on people's perspective on looks. The only real reason I didn't buy an RS7 is because of the looks.

Exactly what some stated. Its apples to oranges. I love the 7 style more and that (S7) is what will eventually be my set of wheels granted I stay with Audi. I have the A6 and love it. Just wouldn't have been financially sane to get a loaded A7 vs a loaded A6 at the time I was shopping.

It's pleasing know there are some sub-$60k S6's out there that are CPO with less than 30k miles.

its the reason I went from my C6 RS6 sedan and onto a S6 sedan instead of another RS6 - I dont want to drive a wagon every day and in general I find the A7/S7 shape not appealing. My mate has a Suzuka grey RS7 and that does look stunning but in general I also wished they just made a RS6 sedan again
