What front rotors are you guys running?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need new front brakes soon, and plan on getting posiquiet ceramic pads with whatever rotor I go with. I kinda want to match my fronts to my rears, which are slotted and dimpled ABTs (no longer being made evidently). If anything, it seems dumb to have blanks in front and fancy rotors in back. So slotted or drilled at a minimum I'd say. I like the ECS drilled ones for $200, but trying to see if I can get something for less.

Lemme know what you guys have and if you have any recommendations!

I run Centric high carbon blanks w/ Posi-quiet pads. All from Parks Geek (which was pretty cheap when I had bought them). No issues so far!

Centric sport slotted and z23 carbon ceramic pads. Not installed yet. If these pads do not perform well they will be the last ceramic pads I buy. Previous was the same rotors with posi quiet ceramic. Needless to say I was disappointed by the pads.

I just purchased a front BBK from Rob at Rotorlab.com, comes with custom drilled rotors. I'm sure they sell the rotors alone but I'm unaware of the price, wouldn't hurt to send them an email asking.

Yup no salt for us over here. The finish on the Adams rotors was weak. I could see it actually flaking off. The R1's (stoptechs) still look like the day I got em. But time will tell

Damn those are pretty expensive! As are the other ones linked earlier. I might be best off with the slotted drilled from rock auto or the ECS drilled ones then..

I love my JHM Lightweight Rotors. I have had them for about 35-40k, gone through two sets of pads and still have meat left.

Yes, a decent, reasonably priced alternative to stock brakes. Plus, Centric includes new metal retaining clips w/their pads(an additional $50ea from the dealer). Mine are a bit over 1yr old, ~35k miles...they've just started making some noise on slow stops, but nothing consistent or embarrassingly loud.

PO just had mine done at the dealer stock rotors and pads. I think my teeth are gonna fly out every time I touch the damn brakes ... and then I have to get out and wash the wheels , get it an go to the next stop light , repeat...

What front rotors are you guys running?

I'm running the cheapest ones I could find on short notice because I was selling my car at the time and the brake pad warning came on 2 days before I had an appointment with a few people to show the car. Had to rush replacing the rotors and pads with whatever the parts store near me had available.

The rotors have been fine though. The pads suck however and squeal badly at low speeds. Like, so badly I fee bad for any nearby pedestrians when I'm stopping at a light.

I would buy Stoptechs front and back and just wait until the rears run out and you'll have a matching front/rear set.

Urotuning have some badass pricing, IMO. I'd also get the Hawk 5.0 pads that just came out not too long ago.

That's a good plan. I'll probably get them from rock auto though, even cheaper. Around 170 shipped for fronts.

I had the HPS 5.0 on my 18z calipers and they squealed horribly, like my ears were bleeding. I called Hawk and they sent me some Performance Ceramics and I honestly like them a lot more. They do occasionally squeal but they actually bite harder than the 5.0's and dust very little. OP consider them as well.

At least I got an extra set of pads out of the whole ordeal

Just out of curiosity did you apply the anti squeal compound that Hawk pads usually come with?

Hahah I can understand drilling / dimpling to be a waste on a daily driver and just for looks, but slotted is always great. As I understand it, the slots keep the pads from glazing and help with wet condition braking.
