Car violently shaking in 6th gear

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my car has had an issue with shaking since I bought it. I've replaced a whole bunch of things to fix it, but it is still there. Here is a list of things replaced in last 10k miles:

    Snub Mount
    Motor Mounts
    Diff Mount
    Transmission Mount
    Upper Control Arms
    Front Axles
Brand new tires, mount, balance, alignment (last 100 miles)

I originally thought it was something to do with my mounts or tires. It really only shaked around 70mph, but now it is getting worse. I noticed that it isn't that bad in 5th gear at 70mph.

When I go WOT in 6th gear at any speed, the entire car shakes. This does not happen in any other gear.

Thoughts? Could it be ignition related and misfiring only in 6th?

I have the stock OEM BBS wheels.

Car shakes at any speed in 6th gear when I give it some gas, like the engine is trying to jump out of the car.

It only happens under load, so pressing in the clutch makes it go away.

Ouch, does that happen on B7s as well? I've taken it to the shop for the past year and they said the vibration is from getting stiffer mounts..

How much should it cost for a flywheel replacement? I think it may be time to cut my losses and move on to another car.

Its not from mounts. Def not that. Either flywheel or something with transmission.

Yea, time for me to move on. Already spent over 10k in repairs this year. Not going to dump anymore into it.

    Thanks for the input.

Do you know the production date of your car? I am willing to bet that your car is likely a 2005.5 S4. That was kind of a transition year from the B6 chassis to the B7 chassis. So it has a lot of B6 S4 parts. The 2007 and 2008 S4s are true B7s with updated parts in a lot of places. After replacing all the stuff that you have listed, I would figure that you are pot committed to the car. You will likely not get any money out of the car at this point.

Yes it does. Generally all low production German cars get expensive to maintain with higher mileage. S4s, RS4s, S6s, RS6s, S8s, etc are all good examples of that.

Problem is, I don't have time to work on my car. I drop it off at the shop while at work and Uber back to the office.

WAUGL78E26A264867 is my VIN, looks like 2006 to me. Sure, I won't get money out of it, but I won't be losing more if I keep fixing it. Might trade it in for a truck to haul my Evo with.

The production date should be on the sticker between the driver's door and the body.

I had to get a truck and trailer to haul my S4 and other cars to different tracks. So I know how that goes. Good luck selling your S4 if you follow through with that plan.

Traded it in for another Evo. I got 10k for my trade in, just an FYI in case people are curious. I did fight them tooth and nail to get that rate.

How many miles were on the car? Seems like a decent trade in considering it needs a clutch/flywheel job.
