Hello. Just looking thru my engine bay and I find a set of red and black wires that I don't know what they are for. I also have these plugs. I know my bay is pretty dirty. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

    1.8T? what year?
looks to be a facelift car but not 100%. the red and black wires look to be an aftermarket piece because volkswagen never used black as a negative. also my facelift 1.8T doesnt have them. trace them all back to the source?

Agree. I think Red and Black are aftermarket. Maybe an alarm or fog lights or some such.

The Brown and Green pair look stock. With the single spade terminal design, I'm thinking maybe oil temperature sender (above oil filter) or maybe oil pressure switch? Not sure what else uses the kind of connector.

You got me on the round plug. Maybe another photo would help. Wire colors going in, more detail, etc.

My oil temp gauge works so maybe oil pressure switch because we were thinking the car is not getting enough oil pumped up.

Here's pic of the other plug

I think the last one is for the washer fluid pump in the drivers wheel well. If i remember it kinda looked like that and is over in the area. (just a thought)

    All Over!

The D-shaped plug...that's got the remains of the headlamp washer pump attached. The wires are too thick to be screen wash pump, so I guess...

Yeah. It looks like the backend of the washer pump.

Why, exactly, are we thinking the car is not getting enough oil? That's a pretty serious thing. Are there dashboard warnings?

i would say that the round plug with a D plug is right. the black and red wires are aftermarket, im sure of it. the two little ones dont look to be oil related, or even coolant related. my guess is someone added something to the car and thats what they used. maybe changed it to a mega horn or something at one point. its obviously nothing major since the car runs and drives okay so me personally, i would just tuck them down to where they cant be seen, and drive on. the heated headlight washers are a neat thing that youll never use, the aftermarket wires are clearly not anything youre missing out on, so id just truck them down or remove them ( because i did remove my heated headlight washers)

i feel ya there. i am about to throw my RS4 bumper on so i cant even use the head light washers anymore. id trace those aftermarket wires as far back as you can and remove them and the source or just trim them back to the furthest point and call that solved lol tuck the green and brown wires back and cable tie them away too lol
