    LTE to 3G

So I'm 8 months in to owning my S3 and never renewed the at&t service plan. Ironically, right at the 8 month mark (4/15/16) my MMI no longer displays LTE but instead 3G. I've never seen 3G in the area I live in and was wondering if it's because I let the service lapse, or is there something wrong with the LTE radio that I should take my car in for? I plan on renewing it at some point, just not right now.

The first thing you can do is test to determine if your S3 still receive data access. The easy way is to do a search using Google from your car. If you have no access, Google will tell you it cannot connect to a data connection. Once you've established that you're out of data, do not, and I repeat, DO NOT renew your plan. It's a rip off. I would look into other carriers who offer data plans cheaper than what Audi/AT&T charge. I personally use my iPhone to tether and have 4g all the time.

I can confirm I have no data but shouldn't my vehicle still display LTE after letting the at&t plan terminate? Just wondering why it is only displaying 3G and want to make sure it isn't an issue with the vehicle. Once your at&t plan lapses, does the MMI no longer display LTE?

Nothing is wrong, 3G is the default display.

No, it's not. It's displayed LTE until this weekend.

How are you tethering your iphone to provide a data connection to your car?

I thought it was maybe telling me that I had LTE/3G coverage on my phone or something. It shows the message icon when I get a text right next to it.
