So I didn't feel like spending $2K on an exhaust now that I have the Unitronic Downpipe and Resonator delete. I love the sound now but hated the little tips on the OEM and wanted black tips anyway.

Right now they are clamp on, but will eventually weld them on, now it looks and sounds the part.

How much are the tips? Did they require any modding to fit? Fit a regular s3 valance?

No modding of the valence at all just installed a rear carbon fiber diffuser on a friends car with the same tips in chrome and they fit fine.

You just have to cut right behind the ovals

Tips are like $22 on amazon a PC.

    I got for $100 shipped

All anyone needs to do is take the exhaust tip pipe diameter of the stock pipes. Measure the length you need. Then look online for the size and type of tips you need. The list of exhaust tips available is ENDLESS... every size and type is out there.

Remember you not just buying the catback exhaust for the sound and looks, but also the aftermarket catback exhausts are much lighter as well. I'll have the weight difference between the OEM and the AWE Track exhaust posted once mine is delivered. I weigh and compare EVERYTHING I install. For some header back installs on some vehicle applications I've seen weight savings of 50-60 lbs or more. Esp. if you dump resonators, cats, exhaust valves (not the ones in the heads...), and the large OEM mufflers.

Common most of us don't care about weight and looking for some options for tips. The weight offset versus WHP is negligible as exhaust add very little performance gains unless you are big turbo, EWG etc. I saw very little gains with my 500 WHP Rotated 2011 STI, downpipes, External; waste gates are a different story. Yes if you go straight pipe back you will see some very good gains at least with my experience. Your vehicle lists look quite extensive and if you have had different experience it has not been mine with turbo-charge 4 cyls.

The part number is EX-1012B by DC sports 1012 is the chrome number. Like I said I will be most likely welding these on or getting a different one etc. but for now these serve the purpose well and look good.

I am waiting on my new rear diffuser as I am sure I will need to readjust them another good reason they are movable and bolt on for now.

    Blaine,
You mentioned you weighed the catback (stock vs AWE). What were the results?
It doesn't compute in my head, or out of principle, the need to spend at least 1.5-2k on a catback, to reduce 10-15 lbs and gain sound sound.

    2015S3,
Thanks for the part number. I will more than likely be doing this too!
On amazon, the description mentions that they are mirror-polish finish, on your pictures they are a bit matte. Is that just the camera or me crazy?

What do you mean cut right behind the ovals? I though these were bolt on and you can optionally weld them?

So you wouldn't have to cut them off, correct? The new tips would slide over the pipe and bolt on

You have to cut the OEM piping is flanged to an oval to match the tips, yes you 100% need to hack off those ovals to get the round portion of the slip on tip to fit.

    I will update pics tonight.

Won't be able to weigh it until mine gets in. Takes awhile for anything to get shipped to Germany. I'll do a post picture heavy once its in with weights and all.

Usually I like to my exhaust custom made and tuned for sound to my taste at a muffler shop with tips and mufflers I pieced together to save $$, but since I'm in Germany I don't have that option anymore. So I'm stuck with bolt on kits.

I bought one of these some time ago and I gave up when I realized it would not fit without cutting the original pipe, and even cutting I thought it would be a tight fit. I would really appreciate a pic showing the actual connection, the oval section is a long piece so you need to cut a pretty good chunk of original exhaust. I might give it another try now that I know it will work, my original pipe tips are not in a very good shape.

So i did mine tonight on the A3 and it was super easy. Just went and grabbed a pipe cutter from home depot and dropped the exhaust down via the two bolts that hold the rubber exahust hangers A few spins and it was off. But for just the duel tips of the A3 i have to say it looks really good. A lot better than the stock (way to small for the holes) tips. Forgot to take before shots

Agreed. Very very nice. Do the resonated tips change the sound at all in your opinion?

For those who wants to change their A3 dual tips, there are other alternatives as well. Miltek USA has some 100mm tips. The link is for the tips. The video has the miltek catback with the very same tips just so you get an idea how well they fill the holes.

Those are gorgeous. It's a shame that they're so expensive. $36 vs. those at $175.

Very nice. Would it still fit if I don't want to cut the pipe? What is the OEM pipe diameter at the tip inlet?

No you have to cut it just behind the big part where it gets smaller.

Not worried about warranty. I am more interested in the Miltek tips which take 3" inlet, so I am just wondering after removing the OEM tips whether the pipe diameter is 3".
