Weird tick from the wife's car 3.0 v6

Hello from the B5 S4 forum! I'm hoping to some input on troubleshooting the ticking coming from my wife's intake manifold. Have a video just can't upload right now for some reason.. It's definitely not a lifter noise, it's coming directly from the manifold is this a common issue among the 3.0's? It's an 03 auto car..
Any tips before I pull the manifold off?

There is a changeover assembly inside the manifold that has little plastic pieces on it. One of those probably fell/broke off and is rattling inside the manifold.

I say that every time my car has an issue. Once I buy a house, this will probably happen for me. Just need the space.

Also, I agree. its likely something from the changeover mechanism bouncing around. The piece might be large enough to not have fallen into the intake valves, or it could be bouncing around the manifold still. Its not too hard to pull the manifold off (grab new gaskets ($8 on rock auto)) and see whats going on. Might as well tackle the vacuum lines while you're at it.
