Removal of trans. is not required. Pull the drivers axle, axle shield, and front wheel. (1) 6mm hex holds it in place.
To install, take a dremel or hack saw blade and put a single divot across the center of the plastic push rod. Don't go deep at all, just enough to hold a small gauge piece of string. Then fully compress the piston and tie it into position. Install the new slave, bolt in the 6mm, then cut the string.
I have done MANY of these and this is the only way I can get one to sit right into the cup in the clutch fork. Without performing the slight little mod and securing with string, you will send it off to the side and it will get stuck between the transmission and shift fork.
Of course if the transmission is out of the car you can easily remove the shift linkage and then you'd have a straight shot into the transmission and it works just dandy without the string. But once everything is in the car, it has to be done IMO.
Good Luck!
