Looking into replacing my timing chain. Found this online and am inquiring on it, but, I also hear about replacing the plastic guides with metal ones from the RS4. Will the B7 metal guides work on my B6 S4? I saw a link for the parts but need to look into it again.

Not being the huge gearhead yet, I am probably going to have the local independent shop do this work for me.

    Insight, opinions? Thanks.

I wouldn't use the OEM adjusters , if you end up needing them. (they can still wear out)

the kits from JHM all come with the metal backed guide IIRC, atleast mine did .

how many miles do you have ? any cam timing related codes ?

if you don't have any cam timing codes, I would order the JHM basic plus kit , and wait until your mechanic gets the cam adjusters off the engine. (you'll see if you need them or not.)

I get a powertrain code. But the VW dealer said it is because of a motor mount solenoid. But nothing else. I get the chain rattle though. I have 158k on it bought it at 130k no knowledge of chain had been replaced yet.
