This is my B8 A4 purchased two months ago. So far I have a RS4 grille with matching fog light inserts, Vossen CV3s, and and a drop in K&N filter. The purpose of this thread is to mainly get criticism and ideas from other B8 A4 owners. So please.....feel free to comment.

    After Vossens:

Now that I have the looks down I want to work on the performance. I was going to get APR Stage 2 w/ the APR down pipe and a quad tip exhaust setup, APR or Luft-Tecknik intake, and then eventually a KO4 upgrade with a intercooler. Any thoughts??

Maybe it's just the picture, but what about a headlight restore job

I would drop it a bit with some sport suspension or coilovers

looks great and for performance you have a great wish list. Save your money on the intake. a $50 panel filter should do the job.

I'm working on getting a pair of led projector headlights so I'm not too worried about restoring them. For now I just put in some HIDs and cleaned it with toothpaste and baking soda.

Right now, with the wheel setup I have, I would have to roll my fenders if I want to go lower which I'm perfectly fine with but its hard to find a shop that does a good job rolling fenders in Houston. And yeah, I've read that drop in filters like my K&N work the same as a 400+ intake. I want to get my exhaust done and see if that helps the airflow. If it does I'm fine with just the drop in but if it doesn't I might invest in a intake.

Great improvement with the wheels and grill. HID bulbs in reflector housings is selfish and a no no.

Link to the fog light inserts you used?

Which apr Downpipe are you planning ?

Sounds basically the same plan I have for mine

    Intake > Intercooler > Downpipe/stage2 > internals > clutch > ko4 > then maybe brakes to stop haha

Admitting that HIDs are kind of a asshole move, I'm still going to keep them. Main reason is the night and day difference between the effectiveness between them and LEDs. LED are much cheaper and last much longer but having had both I can tell you from experience that nothing beats the power and lighting of HIDs. To eliminate the asshole factor I've pointed my headlights at an angle at which it does not disturb oncoming traffic and gives me maximum view at night.

That Downpipe doesn't fit an a4 unless I'm missing something ?
I'm waiting on the new Downpipe they're releasing sometime this summer.

Planning on a ko4 and eventually more so I'm going to just start with the apr intercooler one and then never have to worry about swapping again in the future.

Was between that and AWE but doesn't seem to be much difference other than price.

And I actually already have the ECS intake coming from a drop in filter/silicone setup

Regarding the down pipe, the APR down pipe in the link says it won't fit a B8 A4 but when I asked a APR authorized retailer in Houston they said that that's the one they install on most B8 A4s.

The APR intercooler was my choice too. And whenever you get your ECS let me know if it's worth the trouble or not.

I forgot a comma , I have it installed already , and had the filter/inlet tube before

And take it for what it's worth I guess, there's endless people on this forum that will say they're a waste of money or this or that but to me personally it's just a peace of mind. Sound is great on it and it may be full placebo effect but feels like the car can breath better. Even if it only helps a little and reduces temps a tiny bit more efficient etc... To me it was worth it

Also went from averaging 24-26 mpg to 26-28 coincidence? Maybe lol

No real trouble, and people do all kind of mods for $450 that I disagree with so who knows

Is everyone painting the cross member on front when you install the RS Mesh Grill? I want to add this to my list but want to see about an intercooler at the same time and still unsure about taking off the bumper by myself.

I'm eventually gonna get a intercooler too but not painting it messes up the look of the grille. A silver bar running across the mesh looks messy and tacky. I painted mine with matte black high heat engine paint from a Lowe's near my house. Bumper removal is pretty easy on B8 A4. Google it and you'll find many tutorials and how to guides.

Bumper is fairly easy to take off, easier than my old b7. I used plastidip to pain the cross bar, wanted to use something a little more permanent but everyone recommended that and it's held up fine.

I've been contemplating that ecs intake too, heard a lot of good things about it

I was going to use plastidip too but I knew that it will eventually start to peel because of the Texas heat and moody weather. I wanted a one time solution so I wouldn't have to ever worry about it ever again so that's why I chose high temp paint. Don't get me wrong, Plastidip is amazing but it can be unpredictable sometimes.

ECS is probably the best option to go for if you're looking for an intake. I was going to go with APR Carbino but after heavy reading I found out that the Carbino's quality and performance is inferior to that of the ECS. So unless I find proof otherwise I'm sticking with ECS.

    Best options are:

Intake: aFe Pro Dry S filter, ECS/eurcode/cts silicone turbo inlet. ECS tuning intake won't do anything above that (espeically on stock k03) except for sound.

Intercooler: Treadstone TR8/TR11 with some ebay/amazon hoses. Equal performer to an APR/CTS for 1/2 the price.

Exhaust: Eurocode/034 motorsports HFC/Testpipe, catbacks don't really do anything but sound.

AWE "Track" Exhaust | CTS Turbo Downpipe | CTS Test Pipe
ECS Kohlefaser Intake | Treadstone TR11 FMIC | Snow Performance Stg. 2 Water/Meth
