    Timing Hall Sender tool question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all,

I'm in the middle of doing my timing service on my car and I'm currently torquing the camshaft bolts to the final torque. I tightened the left side bolt on the drivers side head, followed the Bentley manual and removed the camshaft holder tools. Went to put the hall sender tool back on and it didn't line up with the bolt it sits on top of on the left side.

    Below are some pics.

My question is should it be off a little bit. I can get the tool back on if I move the adjuster then it lines up. Is my timing off a tooth when I installed the mech adjuster?

As long as you had no problems torquing it. The mechanical adjuster doesn't have to sit in a certain position. As it is not timed. Just make sure it's seeded on the electronic adjuster.

I had a hard time getting the passenger side adjuster seeded. Took me an hour, since it's jammed in next to the guide.

It looks like the round part of the tool is sitting at an angle on the adjuster, I did that before without realizing it and had this problem, but then it lined up correctly when I had the round side placed flat against the cam adjuster. It can be a little finicky getting it placed correctly
