That's the A3 version, but it's the same principle.

I initially thought it was for a CD changer, but this is in a DE 4B Glovebox and was made from the factory this way. I have not seen an OEM CD changer in this location.

Not in the US. But, in Europe you could get a damn keg installed in the glove box.Or a record player, stripper pole..you name it and they'll do it over there. Seen the BiTurbo Diesel? No shit 0-60 5ec and 360hp. We don't get crap here.
Part of that install stuff you have in the pic looks aftermarket, but still is a place they put the CD changer sometimes or an Ipod dock retrofit.

LOL. Everything in the pic is factory, even the cigarette lighter in the corner- out of a 4B RS6 Avant.

I just can't find the exact part that went in there, but 4rings is probably right saying it's a CD changer.

I even looked through the C5 options catalogue and cannot find a glove box CD changer
