    License plate LEDs

I searched but couldn't find the answer.

My license plate lights went out this past week, thought I'd replace them with LEDs. What size LEDs do I need? 37mm, 38mm or 41mm?

Reason I ask is cause ECStuning says their 39 mm lights are a fit for the C6 A6 but on hidconcept's site there isnt a 39 mm bulb.

    Thanks in advance.

There's a lot of room for play as the bulbs are held in by springs. I got 36mm and they work well. 39mm would also likely fit. Here what I have and they are almost too bright LOL

Be careful with the screws that hold the housings in, mine were pretty stuck, almost stripped one of the screws removing it.

+1. Hit it with some WD40 or other penetrating oil and let sit for a bit.

    Thanks for the heads up.

Tried taking them off this morning and surprisingly came off with no hassle. Thanks for the tip, though.

For what it's worth I have ones from USP Motorsports and have been very happy with them. Also, a lot of good advice on being careful with those screws!

So I went about installing these ( http://www.hidconcept.com/38mm-phili...nt-bulb-6000k/) today and encountered something rather interesting or I'm just dumb and missing the obvious. I installed them and both were working fine. 5 mins after running them I got an error msg in the center display and LEDs are no longer working. Turned ignition off then on and LEDs would flash on then off and flash on one more time then stay off. Polarity is definitely not the issue cause they worked at first and when I try and switch poles they don't even light up at all.
I put previous bulbs back on and they are working fine.

What am I missing? Why would they run fine then throw error msg and no longer work?

PS: jinxed myself. Both screw heads stripped when I was trying to remove them. Had to remove them with screw extractor and replaced with new screws. Shittiest screws ever. Lol

I guess this answers my question: I was dumb and missed the obvious!
