    fuel tank leak

    Hi guys,
cpl weeks ago i replaced my fuel pump. to get it out i banged on the pump pretty hard eventually getting it to turn and come out.

now i have the following issue: leaking gas!

    - when i fill up all the way, gas is literally dripping from the passengers side. like dripping dripping, enough to get a large puddle within two minutes.
    - the area around the gasket is wet

so i will be replacing the gasket and doing a better job of seating it.

how can i get better access to the tank to see if caused a fracture in the tank or if its a hose issue? have you come across a DIY for dropping a tank and inspecting it?

    ok so a couple updates:

the substance doesn't smell or feel like gasoline. its oily. gasoline would dry up in a few hours max and this seems like it has been there for some time, yet is also new since i just replaced the fuel filter. i can't recall that stuff being there before.

in addition i have a rattle when going over bumps from that area (rear passenger). this may or may not be the exhaust hangers.

are there any oil based systems back there that could be leaking from on top of the fuel tank? does the evap system have some kind of oil component to it?

Nothing above the fuel tank. Brake fluid, rear differential fluid, a small amount of fluid from the shock absorber and cv joint grease.

Thanks, those could be valid explanations. Will check
