New (to me) B7 A4 in Audi Service... need advice. (P2293)

Back story: I just bought my A4 AWD 6MT this past Sunday with a 3 month powertrain warranty. Of course when I first get it, I'm going to go WOT and see what it has and if anything will go wrong. It would shudder at higher RPMs and hesitate. From a stop and giving it 80% throttle sometimes it would just fall on it's face. At highway speeds when adding throttle to pass there wouldn't be anything. And then all of a sudden it would wake up and go. The second day I had it it threw a code P2293 (fuel pressure regulator).

Anyway, luckily the Dodge dealer I bought it from couldn't scan it and sent me to the Audi dealer close to me. After looking at it today the problem was the high pressure fuel pump that had gone out. In doing so, it had also scored the cam which warranted replacing. All of this was barely covered under an Audi extended warranty of 10 years 120k miles which I barely snuck in under the 10 year mark. I'm sure this made my warranty company very happy. lol

So my question is what do I need to look for or ask about when I pick up my car? I had called the rep back and asked how much the cam was scored and he reclarified his statement that it was "scratched". I asked about metal in the engine and he said that they'll be changing the oil and checking for that. I'm sure they will, but being that it's THEIR warranty issue, can I trust them to do the right thing if there is metal in the oil? Should I have them save the cam and oil filter for me to see when I pick it up? Or am I just being paranoid? I just bought the car, and I'm in literally, seriously, in love with it. And I don't want to be rebuilding an engine down the road because I wasn't checking something in the past. This seems to be a common problem so hopefully someone here can give me some advice on what to look for and ask. Thanks everyone.

Search cam follower for additional information. Concerning metal fragments, ask them to provide the CF piece that broke off.
