Anyone else getting that "turbo flutter" noise with APR tune?

I've had the APR intake and turbo muffler delete on my car since 500 kms and only heard the smooth whoosh induction noise. However, since getting APR's stage 1 ECU /TCU at 4500 kms, I'm hearing the stuttering turbo flutter noise which kinda sounds like an owl whooing. It's only at lower RPM, only while lifting off throttle and most pronounced in-between 3rd and 4th gear.

Curious to know who is else is hearing this noise and if it's something to worry about?

Searched, but haven't found much on S3 8V's with this sound. On other platforms (GTI's, A3 8P's, etc) Ive read that it's either the waste gate or diverter valve letting off excess boost or excess boost travelling back against the backside of the turbine.

For those of you that had the flutter sound, did upgrading the diverter valve (perhaps the GFB DV+) get rid of the noise?

I also read that some people like the flutter sound, but not really my cup of tea.

I had this noise on my Focus ST, from what I understood it was waste gate flutter due to the fact that the throttle plate shut very abruptly when you let off the throttle. But I only heard it with my aftermarket intake, once the stock intake was in it stopped making the noise. I think the aftermarket intake accentuates the noise.

    Does it sound like this?

I would put the stock turbo muffler back on the car. See if it goes away.

    .

If you're talking about the rattlesnake-type air flutter noise, then yes I have it. DV upgrades and changes will not remove said flutter, I've tried the DV+ as well as a vacuum driven DV from Forge Motorsport. I'm APR stage 2 but I've had the flutter ever since installing the air intake when stage 1.

The next question is do you have slight stumbling when accelerating in higher gear under load in D? (think max throttle without causing a downshift.) I think the two may be related.

Sound is similar, mine is much quieter and I'm not able to replicate at a standstill. Also, I only really hear it under the conditions I mentioned in my OP.

Yes I also get a slight hesitation in D, high RPM, but also only when DSG is shifting from 3rd to 4th. So could very well be related to the sound. I've only had the car tuned for a few 100 kms, so I thought the ECU or TCU were still adapting or something..

So DV upgrades don't solve it, stage 2 didn't solve it... I wonder if there's a fix?

I can definitely live with it, I guess I'm just wondering if it's damaging anything.

Any others with different tune/intake combos experiencing this sound?

I have a Eurodyne 1.5 tune and the DV+. The DV did actually help with his issue a little but I think it's fairly normal. My DSM used to do this when applying enough gas to build some positive boost but then letting off without giving the turbo time to really get going.

If you were hearing this sound when driving at high boost levels I'd say you had some nasty compressor surge. This is just some small diverter wonkiness.
