But Bruce, it is like glued on! I need to get someone who can do it without breaking the grill.

    I got it from Seibon!

I was a little worried about the weight and fit but the bodyshop guy did a great job!

The hood is super light as well. The stock hood is steel and this one weighs a tad over 13lbs from the scale.

Rs4 bumper looks solid, but definitely lose the badge lol. Not feeling the carbon fiber hood. IMO not a good look for any car, but if you like it then that's all that matters

    Hi Cadence!

Thank you for the nice comments.

I agree with you about the carbon fiber part as well.

I actually work internationally, so I gave this car to my bodyshop guy and ordered every part required from an audi online catalog.

I asked for the hood to be painted, but he said it wasn't possible? Maybe because it is already clearcoated, or there was worry about the paint sticking? I am not sure!

I flew back from overseas and my car was sitting here waiting for me :)

Definitely some more details to get sorted out!

Looks good! I wonder if ours are from the same place?

Someone was asking me for a parts list, and when I linked the place where I bought mine, I noticed my grill was different. It made me think maybe the seller was using a stock image!

I actually thought the b8.5 rings were different than the b8, but my bodyshop guy told me that they swapped over?

My Service Advisor at the audi dealership wants to have a peak - so I figured it would be worth showing.

She has alot of shiny's under the hood as well :)

When I was in vegas a few months back I stopped my SRM and picked up a direct injection meth kit. Maybe I will have time to play around with it at the track :D

    Ok, hmmm.

From the stock image I had, there was no badge and when I came home it had the RS4 on it! I was also expecting the rings to be missing, but the B8 ones apparently worked.

When I stop in the dealership tomorrow I am going to see about getting an OEM RS4 grill. I am curious how the quality compares?

How do you like the E85?

I had a mock turbo fit-up on mine, but without dropping the engine, we had a hard time finding a spot to place the turbo.

Right now I am sitting in a direct port meth kit (direct port from SRM and meth kit from Aquamist (PWM)), light weight UD pulley, stage 2 APR, APR intake, RSC exhaust, and some nice suspension mods (adj control arms, alu kruz stabalizer, upgraded end links, etc).

When I have some free time I am going to drop the engine and play around with porting the heads!

I won't have time to touch it again, sadly until July :( It will give me enough time to plan though

Might want to add hood pins before your hood goes flying.

Oh yeah! This was more than 3k, but if I didn't get the CF hood and RS4 bumper, I am pretty sure I could of gotten it done for less than that amount. It definitely adds up fast! Most expensive item was the body shop work.

If you buy all new, this can inch towards the 5 figure mark! But of course, Audi charges quite a hefty penny for new.

Bodyshop wouldn't do it. Said they were afraid to cut into this hood. They have done two other hoods for me (1 actual carbon fiber and the other fiberglass).

I would try a paint shop to paint the hood. I know a couple people who painted their CF Hoods.

The conversion looks great! I wish I could do the same thing. I would try and paint the hood somehow, I don't know, use the high grit (2000-3000) wet (hand) sanding just to rough up the clear coat so the primer would stick?

A quick question, what did you do with fog lights, any error codes?

Is this the hood you have? http://seiboncarbon.com/store/produc...3-audi-a4.html

It's the only one I found that *could* fit but it's for an A4 and it says in the special notes: HOOD PINS REQUIRED ??

Any CF Hood should have hood Pins. They can shatter at high speeds without them..

    Ok so to be honest!

I sent him a picture of what I wanted, which was the hood painted red and a silver strip at the bottom (like the rs4 bumpers have).

I asked about the hood and he said it was too difficult, so I am not sure how to go about it?

I am a bit afraid to take my car anywhere else after some bad experiences! This guy has done my 2014 vette, 2014 mustang GT, this car, my other S4, and various other vehicles for me. He has actually known me since I was a 16 (25 now), so I have alot of respect for his work.

I do want the hood painted and hood pins, though!

Yeah, my bodyshop has done two other hood pins for me, but they said that this hood wouldn't require it because of how sturdy it was?

I always do hood pins -

I bought the nice locking ones for this set-up and they are still sitting with me. I think it was a bit more work than he anticipated with this hood.

Please for the love of VAG, paint that hood red...

I have a black b8.5 s4 with a little paint damage to the hood and was thinking of going with a CF hood although I haven't found any except the one listed above, which is apparently out of stock. Question: having never had a cf hood would I need to paint the hood black or would the cf be close enough to black that it wouldn't matter?

Carbon is fine for diffuser, lips ect but hood or trunk I just can't stand.

I don't care is this thread is old, I agree with YMR. So fricken what if someone wants a raw cf hood or whatever. That alone doesn't make them any less of a automotive enthusiast than not knowing how to fix every single thing on a car, or being pumped when you break into the 12s in the 1/4 in a DSG that someone else built. Let people have their fun. If someone's car goes fast at the track, let them have their moment to be excited and proud if they're not hurting anyone else or being a dick. Let people show off a part that they might be excited about without sharing what ever is "in your opinion" if it's something crappy.

Let people have their fun. If someone's car goes fast at the track, let them have their moment to be excited and proud if they're not hurting anyone else or being a dick. Let people show off a part that they might be excited about without sharing what ever is "in your opinion" if it's something crappy.
