Hi guys I'm new here, been researching a lot since picking up my S4 and figured at this point I might as well start documenting this build process. I wasn't planning on a project but when you buy a car to drive a car for a week only to find out the motor and turbos are blown theres not much else you can do but embrace it and go all in :)

This is my first Audi. I thought I was conditioned to high maintenance costs from my two previous E39 M5s. hehe nope. At least parts are a lot cheaper on these cars!

p.s. understeer sucks. I really hope a proper set of tires, rear sway bar, and 4:1 diff will help alleviate this issue.

A lil about my new money pit:

200k miles on the deceivingly clean silver body
~115k on motor according to PO but at this point why trust a word hes said...
    F21 turbos
    Stage 3-
    SMICs
    yada yada
    stock fueling (lazy prick)
    etc..

Turbo warranty wont be honored, so I'm out 275 a side on those. Already got about a grands worth of work getting the engine out, tomorrows when we find out if the motors is salvageable or not. In the meantime if anyone has any suggestions or know of anyone selling anything cool like a built motor now is the time to notify me!

Compression on the motor tested at 150-170 with cylinder 3 at 50psi. Car ran and drove just over heated because whoever worked on the car was imbecilic because they neglected to install a fan and after a week of good drivin she overheated out of nowhere as I promptly shut the motor off grabbed my belongings and jumped out the car (I thought it was on fire, it was probably around 0-5 degrees F that day so overheating isn't exactly the first thing to come to mind).

    Bad news so far:
Bunch of sensors missing or broken
    Turbos and motor blown
    Slight grind in 3rd gear
Heater core blew when the car overheated
I hope my heads are the only component affects by the short amount of excess heat, and considering the car ran and drive after the fact its hard to believe the shortblock can look that bad
Car was low on oil, hopelessly low on coolant(nonexistent, actually)
I dont doubt this list will be updated tomorrow, well later, I've been up all night considering my options.

    Plans?
    Overhaul.
Forged rods without pistons, all supporting maintenance
    GT2871 Turbo kit (this is gonna be fun){who wants my blown frankenturbos?}
Fueling because I'm not a lazy prick
I must put my local E85 station to use and this is the perfect way to do so
And a whole lotta love. Something this cars seem to have been missing over the past couple of years..
And all the other crap thats wrong with it that I've yet to find out yet, I'm prepared for the worst.

I'd part out the car if the body and interior wasnt as clean as it is, plus im 7k in so far + 1k for the work so far.

Pictures will come tomorrow when I head to the shop.

Wish me luck fellas, a melted piston would sure put an end to my ambitious GT28 encompassing goals. I find out tomorrow!

Why won't the warranty be honored with the F21's? You have a lot of work ahead of you.

I speculate the turbo(s) failed due to coolant starvation and the warranty only covers mfg. defects, not improper use. Its worth a shot to make a claim because I do fall into the warrant period I'm just pretty sure they wouldn't honor it (I dont blame them); I guess I'll find out when I send them in for inspection and rebuild, unless of course somebody would take em off my hands blown so I can start my part ordering spree

So I found out my pistons are cracked and I'm currently searching for a new motor. Got a few PMs about the FT21s so I may entertain letting them go but I don't think i can entertain GT28s at this point so I'm still considering all my options.

I know someone who may still have a kit, I'm guessing used. I never entertained the idea not what I was looking for.
