I was just looking at this yesterday, oddly enough, and thinking of the same thing for my S6 ... I believe you need the timing belt covers as well.

Is it just for appearance or is their any advantage to the newer style coils?

Thanks guys. Im guessing the metal backing behind the cam gears need to be changed as well. I just tore the front apart for TB/WP job not planning to touch that anytime soon.

Those must be off an A8 ? Nice way to get the coil conversion done too.....hmm....not bad at all...

Actually, that engine looks like it's from an A8? That torque mount, power steering and other pulleys, etc..and the engine is in an A4. Smooth.

Yep, Reading make moar knowing :

You'll need the timing belt covers, so it all lines up a treat, then you're all good to go.
