as easy as i am with the pedals when reversing or going forward from a stop, the car jerks and i do a lil head bang. its getting a bit annoying. could this be a tranny issue ? i do have a fwd cvt.

my warranty expires this month and luckily ive already got a service scheduled next monday.

    It's the CVT.

The only way to fix a CVT is to get rid of it.

No, its not normal and only will get worse.

The CVT is a piece of shit transmission and most don't last past 100K.

It's the CVT. If you ever ridden a snowmobile, you probably noticed the same thing. Rpms need to come up a bit before it is engaged.

Can you describe the jerking? Is it a really fast jerking followed by a release? A slow jerking that builds up to a fast jerking followed by a release? Is it a jerking without a release that ends in frustration?

You can buy time by performing a fluid and filter change, but it's relatively expensive because the filter is inside the transmission housing and the fluid is expensive. However, a fluid change is cheaper than a new $4K tranny or new car.

    I'd change fluid every 40-50K.

Our family has a 2012 with the Multitronic CVT transmission and it does the same thing as well, particularly when it's cold. It definitely isn't normal as it didn't do this when we got the car, but the dealer hasn't been able to replicate the issue so it's gone unsolved. If you find anything out please let me know!
