    So I bought an RS6....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had purchased an S6 earlier this month in hopes of making an RS6 wagon and went searching for a donor car. Sadly the donor car I ended up finding for a steal was just too nice to chop up and opted to make it my daily and abandon the RS6 avant project due to having no time.

So Here she is, a 2004 RS6 Black with black interior and solar sunroof option, DRC, 102000 KM.

    Day I picked her up

    First day in the garage

It had these janky LED tail lights, so I found a pair of early a6 tail lights and smoked them for the time being

after that I had to replace the crusty OEM brakes, which was a reason why I got the car on the cheap. Went all out and upgraded to RS5 flower rotors, I threw on OEM a8 discs in the rear for the time being until I get my rear R8 kit

sitting pretty, need a full respray which Ill try to do before summer

just got these bad boys, going to use them so I can have noise and be quiet around cops with out getting ruined with tickets

Also have two pallets shipping over from europe, Ill keep you posted with whats inside

Nice! I'd feel bad about chopping up
a good rs6 but I've been dreaming of
    a c5 rs6 avant with the 4.2tt for a long
time. Also an 01E conversion would be
    tits.

Nice purchase! Any details on that rear A8 rotor? Which MY or part#?

Also, the exhaust doesn't get ridiculously loud even with straight pipes because of the turbos and cats - so don't set your expectations too high for the cutouts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhyGKBD1XLI

4E0 615 601L, the offset of the disc is a bit different so you will need to put a washer to space it out, much cheaper then OEM discs which are back ordered in canada and a temporary solution so my calipers dont seize up

Looks like a fun build! My neighbor had an RS6 very similar to that one when I was in high school and I thought it was the coolest car. Still love them.

Glad to see you refrained from tearing apart one of the 90 '04 RS6's released by Audi of North America just so that you can have a wagon - which you can legally start to import starting at the end of this year.

What's the 411 on your friends Green ride? Not a common color for the RS6. You're better off on the RS6.com forum these models as this site doesn't have as many forum members dedicated to the specific model.

    Don't leave... :(

    Lol

The 04 must be leftover stock then? I don't think the US had any MY 04 RS 6s, right? I had a C4 A6 that was MY 98 and was one of 76. But they leftover from 97 and sold as 98s. Not that this kind of stuff really matters in the end but I certainly enjoy the little bit of extra character it gives the car.

the green is a wrap, its a charcoal grey underneath

04 the RS6 was only available in canada, thus it has a 0-300 KM/h cluster with no MPH

From what I can tell they only sold 90 RS6 in canada from 03-04

The US only had a MY 2003 RS6 and Canada only had MY 2004. The US received approx 900-1200 units and Canada only got 90! (as mentioned above)

Boy that Quebec weather is certainly stating to take it's toll on this car. Rusty bolts, rusty clamps, and generally dirty. Not well taken care of. Sounds like from your excitement that you are looking to correct that. What does the undercarriage look like? Did you take the extra time and replace the tensioner pads while you had the valve covers off?

Yeah car was sitting outside for like 2-3 years but I got a cheap price, and am in the process of bringing it back to its former glory lol.

Tensioner pads were indeed changed while servicing the timing belt, no shortcuts!

Nice to see you bringing this car back to life, vs cutting it all up. RS6 avants are sexy as shit, but with such few real RS6s left, there getting rarer and rarer by the day.

As mentioned above, is it true by the end of this year it'll be legal to import a real RS6 avant? Is that for Canada only? Does that also apply to a B5 RS4 avant?

Canada has a 15 year requirement for importation vs. 25 years in the USA ... so we have to wait another 10 years ...

To be fair, the first gen RNS-E would also be period correct since it was offered on the C5 allroad and the C5 RS 6.

I'm also always looking for a clean set of black set of Euro RS6 specific Recaros with the white piping....anyone have any leads???
Just pull the ambers from your CDN issue. It requires removal of the light when you have the front clip in service position, and then put in an oven on low, OR, use a heat gun just long enough to make the perimeter mastic that holds the reflector together with the lens soft and able to split apart (leaving in the sun on a super hot summer day will generate equal results). Removing the amber is a few seconds, and then put the light back together while the mastic is soft. Wrap some surgical tube around the light, or use tape until the mastic hardens, and voila! There's a few write-ups on a DIY on RS6.com.

I put the RNS-D in my B5 S4... cuz period correct. It looks ok, but really st totally useless. The maps are way out of date, and there is no way to get something more current than 2004. Don't get me wrong it was cool in it's time but the RNS-E is the way to go, and it is kinda out of date. Even with phone and I-pod intergrated.
Ten years ago if you had 500HP you were the man. Now days that means you bought a new car.
