Turning the AWE chrome tip to a black or black chrome finish ?

Anyone tried to turn their chrome tip into something more stealth looking with some sort of black color ? How you did it ? powdercoat ? ceramic clear coat ? regular motor/exhaust paint ?

    Thanks.

I would recommend getting them ceramic coated to prevent the finish from being ruined from heat. Example of something we did for my customers M4.

Here’s how the tips looked before:

Here's how the tips look after along with a carbon fiber rear diffuser installed:

PlastiDip always worked for me. It can take up to 200F degrees

yeah but plastidip is no where near close of a black chrome finish. it would be a rubbery matte finish.

I have seen chrome tips powder coated black, held up well, good prep is key.

If you already own an AWE exhaust system, I believe they will sell you replacement/spare tips. It would be worth reaching out to them if you haven't already.

only the inside gets black from all that carbon. the outside is still chrome and looks stupid AF. hence, the reason I pulled mine off and painted black completely

I just purchased and had installed the AWE Touring exhaust with 102mm chrome tips. I asked that exact question and they said that I could purchase replacement tips any time from them.

Just had my AWE 102mm Chrome tips powder coated satin black (bought the exhaust used and it had chrome tips). The tips look good and was much cheaper than purchasing new black tips from AWE. I'll have to take some pictures tomorrow.

Yes, replacement tips can be purchased. However, you will need the original receipt to show that you have an existing AWE setup. We have 90mm and 102mm tips in both colors (silver & Diamond black) in stock as well. Tip sizes are not interchangeable.

Would you mind PM'ing me a price on both the 90 and 102mm tips in black and chrome? Thanks!

Haven't had a chance to install these yet, but this gives you an idea of the look - it's satin black.
