    2013 S5 Service due

Hello, I Am happy to be part of the forum.

    I bought a 2013 audi S5 today with 29,000 km's on it.
I am very excited to have the car, appears to be in great shape and all the maintance seems up to snuff.

I got home today and the service due status came on. I am unsure why as the service to be up to standard at this point and time.
I did some research and I noticed that I can push a few buttons and make the warning go away. I am curious as to if there is scheduled maintenance around 29,000km's on an S5? I looked on the maintenance schedule and I was having a hard time deciphering it.

Any assistance in regards to this would be very helpful.

    Thank you

There is no 18,000 mile service interval, but there is a 15,000. If that has not been done, it could be a reminder as you're overdue.

They're 5/15/25/35/45/55,000 mile intervals for example.

Given the low kilometers on this 2013 I'm guessing that it has been 12 months since the last service. The scheduled maintenance is km and time based, whichever comes first. Fluids such as engine oil degrades whether you drive the car or not, so if you don't drive enough kilometers than you are supposed to do the services annually. Oil should be changed at least every 12 months, so that's why the scheduled service is 10k miles (km equivalent) or 12 months, whichever comes first.

Thank you for the help everyone.

When I look through the features on the screen it says im 360 days or 14000km's to my next oil change (which seems like far longer than I plan on waiting) . But then it also says I am 94 days away from an inspection. Is that what the service due status is likely about?

Should I be getting my oil changed every 3-5000 km's as per usual?

    Thank you!

So that means that whoever did the service on this car only reset the oil change reminder, which can be done through the MMI. The inspection reminder has to be reset via VCDS. Normally, each service includes oil change and inspection and both reminders are supposed to be reset. On low mileage cars it makes sense to do an annual oil change and only reset the oil change reminder and then do a full service when the inspection reminder comes on. 94 days in advance seems a bit early for the service due to come on, but that's got to be it given that you are 360 days and 14000 km away from an oil change.

3-5000 km for an oil change is wasteful. These cars use synthetic oil, however many think 10,000 miles/16,000 kms is stretching it. I would agree if you drive the car like it's meant to be driven. If you drive like a grandma, then 10,000 miles/16,000 kms is probably fine, but in any case don't leave it in there for more than 12 months. I change my oil and filter every 5,000 miles/8000 kms.

Thank you very much for the information that is really helpful.
Can you clarify what the VCDS is? Do i need to go to the dealership to get that reset?
Or am I still able to do so? Thanks again
