    Tiptronic People : Auto Upshift?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
While autocrossing this past weekend, I turned off Auto upshift so I could control my shifting as much as I could as the course was very short (1st and 2nd gear only)

Some questions to you tiptronic people, do you guys have auto upshift on or off?

Is it bad to continually bounce off the limiter? Say for like 1-2 seconds

If you do have it off, does your car shake when it bounces?

The first time it bounced, it caught me quite off guard with the shakiness

    Thanks!

Bouncing off 1st gear is probably not too healthy, especially with your higher torque amount... Tho the zfhp8 is pretty tough.....

I have my auto upshift disabled also, one thing i noticed is you have to upshift early as there is a slight delay from the time you press up to when it actually shifts that way your not always in the limiter. I noticed my 1st to 2nd shift is a lot smoother and quicker when i use manual mode vs auto / sport.

Its in the coding for the transmission, Use a Vagcom or VW scan tool.

I was actually bouncing off 2nd, my bad haha

The course was very small so once I got into 2nd gear, i wanted to stay in 2nd.

Basically on the last straight away, if I got upshifted into 3rd, I'd have no power at all to finish.

Does your car shake when you hit the rev limiter?

Well the car would sort of shake, a limiter cuts power temporarily till it drops below a certain rpm threshold, so as rpm bounces up and down the cars speed will increase/decrease slightly, as well as the engine will rock back and forth as torque goes away/ comes back. Is that what you are noticing?
