    2.8 power steering pump removal

Does anybody have a how-to or walkthrough on this? It's at the top front but audi sure as hell made sure to keep it hard despite that.

I've got (from what I can tell) all but one bolt but it seems the entire intake manifold will need to come out to get that last one. Also it won't even rotate around that last bolt so I think I might be missing one.

It also looks like it might be in a little tray - thus eliminating the need to remove the intake manifold to get the last bolt. But I can only find 2 bolts that hold the tray in and it still won't move.

you don't have to remove the intake, I saw my brother do this on his 2.8 but I can't remember what all he removed, the pump is mounted on a bracket and you remove the bracket and pump together from the car.

That's what I was hoping thank you.
I'll have to take a better look tomorrow but I found no more bolts. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place

It was indeed just one more bolt I missed to pull the bracket/tray out that holds the PS pump. So thank you sean.

To anybody else reading this (I couldn't find a dang thing online about pulling the pump): There's three 6mm allen bolts holding the bracket onto the front of the engine. Get those (along with the 2 lines) and it'll pull straight off. The two to the right side and back are obvious, the one underneath - not so much but easy once you know where to look. The two identical 10mm allen head bolts underneath are NOT holding the tray in, as I found out.

In a side note, I dropped a bit down into the Bermuda Triangle between the radiator and the bumper/carrier which doesn't have any outlet anywhere. I didn't know there was a tray down there with no other entry than from above. I have a 3-foot magnet that can't find anything. I only know it's there because I dropped a small pebble down there attempting to watch it as it falls to see where my bit went and it fell into the exact same, inaccessible area. I fished around with my extendo-magnet for a while and it didn't even knock either the bit or or the pebble around. I'll have to pull the whole front off my car at some point to fish them out.
