Live S6 Negotiations at the Dealer!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my initial offer is 9% off MSRP. Waiting for the response now. My thought is if they counter, I'm walking. I can wait.

    Thoughts?

as a dealer myself, id personally tell you to walk on that offer and most dealers would, a6 sure but on a s6, they would need to be very desperate to A take that offer or B go beyond that offer. How much do you actually think are in these cars? i bet you its lower than what you think...

Perhaps there is and perhaps there isn't. Quite a few members have purported to get 10% off. I don't see how walking hurts me in any way though.

yea it's possible to get a deal like that for sure, generally it'll be the end of the month end of the quarter and we need to hit numbers. Walking doesn't hurt you but there is also not much incentive for the dealer to go that far on the car when sales are pretty high for the s6 at the moment. Do you know this dealer in anyway? bought cars from them in the past?

I rarely see S6's on the road, so the real question is whether 9% off is so low as to be an unreasonable offer.

I just bought from Tyson's in VA and was able to get down to 6% and was pretty happy with that. These are great cars, and i hate to say it, but they are worth it. This my 6th Audi and the 5th from the same guy there if that helps at all.

Dealer came back at 7% off MSRP and said they only had 5% room in the car? I walked, I'm going to drive a new M3 and a CTS-V. Coming from an E90 M3, I don't know if I'm going to like the Caddy.

I guess I should clarify that the 7% off included $2,500 in Audi incentives. So it was more like 4.5% off from the dealer. Not a horrible deal, but I think they can do better. We'll see.

That car will sell no matter if you walk or not. These things don't hang about long. 3 people were on the waiting list for my S6 if I didn't buy it and one was from NY and I'm in VA. It's not like buying a mustang where you can go 50miles and find an identical car.

M3 not usually cross shopped with an S6 - why not M5? Neither BMW M or CTS-V is AWD. AWD is the entire reason I went with Audi over Cadillac. BMW just failed to impress with a dated interior and somewhat lacking aesthetics.

7% is a good deal period. walking because you didn't get 10% is a signal you aren't really serious imo. sounds like you're still making up your mind if you're cross shopping 2 completely different vehicles. M3/M4 is pretty nice as well, but it's no S6.

Funny enough that my cross shopping went from M3 --> M6 GC --> RS7 and you know what I picked at the end.

Another thing to remember is the supply and demand. I haven't looked at mfg numbers, but there are likely a significantly higher number of M3's than S6's.

Be lucky to find a CTS-V never mind get some $$$ off. The V-Sport you can get a break on. S6 is well worth the $$$. Had the prior gen V and did look at the V-Sport. M3? May as well get a 2016 Camaro SS !!

I was looking at a S8 at the time but was reading about the yet to be made RS7...ended up placing an order for one in May of 2013. Did cross shop the M6GC and Merc-AMG cls63 but stuck with the Audi. Still love the look of the GC though.

<-- 11%, financed with audi/vag, had a trade-in from a conquest maker, and I've heard I probably could have done better. That's my feeling as well because the negotiation was wrapped up inside of 6 emails, maybe a few hours. They hit the price I started with, and I'm satisfied that we both did well on the deal.

If price point is that much of an issue, why not buy a used 2016? It seems like there are a decent number that pop up on AutoTrader at dealerships with 2-8k miles on them. The discount is usually 15% +/- - and some can be had for even less. After looking at new S6s, I wound up with a 2015 S7. The sticker was over 100k and I got it from Circle Audi in Long Beach for 73k with 11k miles on it. Not bad . . .

I figure it's still under warranty - and I will likely sell it around the time the warranty expires - so not too worried about previous "abuse". Plus, with all the post about 60-130 times, 1/4 times, tunes, etc. it sounds like most drive their cars in a "spirited" (which is totally different than abusive, right?) manner.

Why compromise? Give the dealership the opportunity to keep refusing. The difference in price ends up being marginal, so if a few grand between them is not a big deal to OP, there's no reason to not buy new.

I know it seems like these are a hot commodity, but at least around here you just don't see them on the road. Few people are actually buying them.
