    A Gambler’s Thread – e30mclow’s Replacement S4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Most of you will have seen/been following the demise of my Stage III Imola, and how the actions of a 3rd Party acting under the umbrella of my contracted moving agency took it for a rip, and made it RIP.

I was really looking forward to moving from Calgary AB (Canada) to the sunny shores of the Outer Banks NC, and getting to drive the thing at sea level for a change – alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

I settled with the mover’s insurance agency last week, but had been searching every avenue for a replacement B5 for over a month. Given that I now live in the middle of nowhere, shipping/flying to pick up a new car was always going to be the only way to go about getting a replacement.

Last week, a beautiful Black 2000 S4 6MT popped up in Georgia, but there was no way I could make flying down there happen before it was gone. Upon chatting with the owner I was completely reassured regarding the car, and we began to work it all out.
To cut through the details, she is on her way to me now, yet I’ve never laid eyes on/driven it!

    Spec:
    • 1 Owner – whom I have just purchased it from

    • 67,300miles – fully documented with Audi Service Binder & Original Bill of Sale

    • No accidents/liens/stories

    • Black on Silver

    • Manual

    • Seemingly blemish free paint, bar one minor door ding.

    • The owner had an APR Stage 2 Tune (switchable), APR Bi-Pipes, Intercoolers, Downpipes and Exhaust fitted by a well-established Atlanta Audi independent shop – all still under warranty.

Other than that, it is totally stock!
    IT ARRIVES TOMORROW!!!!!

    FINGERS CROSSED!!!

May not be the fastest color, but definitely the fastest year!

What the hell is up with these early badges though? Just like yours, rear fades but the front holds up fine.

I priced out a replacement, and decided I would just deal with it.

Awesome pickup though, looks like a perfect (re)boot.

I've always shied away from black cars because of how difficult they are to keep them looking good. But that is honestly a beautiful car. I hope it's everything you expect from it.

Yes, it is the one from Atlanta. Perfect case of how these are undervalued.

Thanks Folks! Hopefully the gamble pays off and it is what I'm hoping for.

My early badge did the same. I bought a replacement, couldn't handle looking at it everyday. I think it was ~$70.

Hopefully the weather clears this weekend, as I plan on doing a wheels off detail of the car and the underside.
Have to buy a power washer and order up some decent detergent/foaming agent for the underbody - suggestions?

haha delivery is postponed until tomorrow - is it doing donuts in a Walmart parking lot right now!!!!???

I expected this, as the pickup time was 4hrs late yesterday, which would have pushed today's 6.30pm delivery to 11pm - not really fair to expect a driver to make that happen.

In all seriousness, I've been looking at GPS trackers since the incident and they are pretty cheap for the peace of mind they offer.
$400 can have you all set. Imagine having that evidence on the guy that wrecked my car! You can always remove it and use it on your next vehicle.

That is a great idea, actually.

And slap on a dash cam in the window. I regret not hooking mine up before I got rear ended and didn't have proof on the guy that hit me at a light. That's my next "mod"

I've heard of people buying GPS prepaid phones, activating the GPS and hard wiring a Charger. Pretty innovative way of doing it if you ask me.

If you don't want to spend too much, the $100ish pressure washers on amazon are great. 1500-1900 psi is what you would want (any more and it can actually damage the paint)
As for a foamer, the eBay ones work great. $20 to ship, and they take a week or two to arrive, but it's better than spending $50-100 on a "brand name" foamer when it is from the exact same supplier lol.

Nice find, such a clean car. Enjoy it!

    TOUCHDOWN!

I've not driven it more than 20', or spent more than 2 minutes looking at it, but it is 100% as advertised.
Proof that buying a car is as much about trusting the owner as it is the car itself.

I cannot believe how blemish free the front end is, its beautiful! The underside still has all of the production barcodes on the parts (the little paper stickers), and is so so clean.
The engine has zero signs of anyone spending weeks in there rooting around, but I'm sure those weeks will come.

Can't wait to drive it tonight, even if it is just around the block.

I used Keith @ KAB Trucking LLC out of Atlanta. He services Georgia to Virginia, and was completely professional.

He had a brand new rig and trailer, and it was an immaculate setup.
He wouldn't have been able to turn in my neighborhood, so I ended up meeting him 3-4 miles out the road. He followed me back to my place in the s4.No issues.

That's so awesome and exciting, absolutely awesome! Wagonholic's comment, I echo that. You can pick up a quality degreaser for the undercarriage and use it in the foamer and pressure wash to get 90% of the gunk off.

Got to spend a couple of hours looking over it after work yesterday. Man, am I ever happy with it!
Figured out the APR programmable ecu; what a difference between modes! It goes pretty quick, and makes all of the right noises.
Stage 2 isn't that far off of k04 stage 3 low down, I was really surprised.

Some parts that came with it! I presume those are APR cat-less pipes? Looking in and around the bay is amazing, zero leaks/weeps/signs of anything worrying.

Also forgot to mention that the original owner had the headliner and pillar trims covered in black alcantara, which looks great. All of the original bose speakers were swapped out for upgrades too.
It also has aluminum uprights, which I didn't thing 2000s had? Maybe I'm wrong.

That's enough whoring for now, but more photos once I start talking it apart to clean it this weekend.

2000s had the aluminum uprights. It changed for 01-01.5

What did he put in for speakers?
