Issues with Speedometer after transmission swap

Hey guys, I have a stage 3 early model 01 S4, The trans is out of an 03 (I was told) B6 A4 3.0. 01E I ran the codes and there is a P0501 code in there. We have replaced the speed sensor with 3 of them and still nothing. I read that some of the B6's used the left front abs sensor for the speed. I really don't want to have to tear this thing apart lol.

Your tranny does not have the magnetic ring on the half shaft that the VSS reads from. You will have to add one in to the tranny if you want it to work.

Is there anyway to tap in to the ABS sensor and have it function like the 03?

I dont think B5's have an ABS sensor that can be used for vehicle speed. I could be wrong about this though.... I think your gonna have to get a magnetic ring installed on your b6 tranny. I am currently facing the same problem on the b6 01e I am swapping into my b6 with the 2.7.
