joeya103: You said it exactly. I'm 37 years old. I don't really need to draw attention to myself with a loud car unless it's some sort of hot rod. I don't think my A4 qualifies...
I also think you are correct in saying that it will grow on me. I was happy with the sound on the highway this morning. I drive the interstate every day at about 72-75 mph. The exhaust has a deep full sound at those speeds. It's definately louder than stock, but it's a nice tone, not loud. For that matter once you're at speed, it quiets down nicely and just gives that deep full tone. It's hard not to like that part.
My only reservation with the exhaust is when running through the gears, I get a resonance through the car around 3,200-4,000 rpm where it gets fairly loud (at least to me). I'm not going to complain about it, but it's unexpected. I think the exhaust overall is very nice and I do not regret buying it at all.
One of my engineers drives an '04 STI. He's quite a character and will be certain to have comments on look and sound. If he has any interesting opinions, I will post them up. He usually does...
Also, I was very carefull to mount the exhaust and I have a rattle where the exhaust is hitting the bottom of the car from the middle clamp I'm guessing. I can't believe it, but it's there.
Also as a note, the install took about 1.5 hours total. We took our time and did everything correctly (properly adjusting things). We had one very stubborn bolt, which was of course the difficult one to reach. The install cost me $60.00 from this guy. I can't tell you how happy I was doing this install on a lift as opposed to ramps and jack stands in my garage.
