Question Quick battery fuse / main fuse question?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi I'm relocating battery to the trunk, I don't have the main 150amp fuse on the positive side of battery hooked up anymore think it got thrown out/: (no reference)
But anyway I got a new 150a fuse (it's gold plated cool!)
I'm looking to see how the fuse is wired in with the alternator, ecu wires should I run both thoes wires to the fuse then to the battery? Or just alternator to fuse, ecu stright to battery or vise versa?

There is no fuse between the battery and starter/alternator. The fuse is for all the other vehicle electronics. On the link page one shows the fuse location and page 5 shows where the fused power goes.

But now that you are running one wire the length of the car. The problem is it has a greater chance of chaffing and grounding out. I am sure there is a reason Audi does not fuse the battery to starter/alternator cable. Since you are planning on using one cable if it grounds out with no fuse it can cause a fire. I would use a fuse directly at your battery to protect the new positive wire running the length of you vehicle. This is for safety. A positive cable running the length of the car without a fuse is not a risk I would take.

A lot of people use a breaker instead of a fuse like this.

Here is a good read about the battery move and need for a circuit breaker.

    Thanks for reply
I do see the main concern to keep a fire or unwanted welding in my car lol
But you confused me saying there is no fuse between the starter/ alternator
There is a main fuse for all the electronics shown in the link you have

    Maybe I worded that wrong,
But I have ecu wire alternator wire and power from the trunk in my rain tray.
I was trying to find out if I should have a fuse for alternator and or ecu/main power wire for car.

I agree that I should have a fuse right off battery.
And from what I understand there's no need for fuse for alternator wire. But I don't think I would need a fuse for the main power from ecu (in raintray) either because there will be one in the trunk next to battery?
Usually the main fuse would be used for the car electronics (main power wire from ecu box) correct?

Don't mind the mess. This is on my parts car. I am pointing at the main fuse which goes to cars electronics. The other wire goes to you starter/alternator. There is no fuse. Sorry for the confusion. If you install a fuse at your battery (150amp) it will now be the main fuse for your electronics and will now include the alternator/starter because of the new battery location.

The starter and alternator are not in the main fuse load circuit. The chassis electrics main power supply fuse strip is a parallel connection with the starter/alternator at the + battery post.

Update so i have a 0 guage cable from battery in trunk to fuse in trunk then runs to rain tray where t's off to alternator and starter all connections are soldered to copper ring terminals and heat shrieked. The t has a stanless bolt that bolts them together.
