    S6 Stage 3 Build Thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just starting a thread where I will be posting a periodic update of my stage 3 build. Here's current picture of the car: 2014 S6, Glacier White. Mods so far: Flat Bottom steering wheel, lowered, tinted, integrated radar/laser jammers, APR ECU 1.1 tune and AWE Touring Exhaust.

Here's picture of the car with winter wheels:

    Here's picture with summer wheels:

Turbos are in with RS7 intake and inlet pipes:

AMS downpipes just arrived, they really look nice! This way I won't have to alter my AWE exhaust and the tonal qualities shouldn't change.

AMS coolant upgrade just arrived, will post pictures soon.

RS6 grill arrived with Quattro lettering. Will post pictures soon.

Everything is pretty much in along with upgraded spark plugs. Just need to schedule install dates.

Will keep you all up to speed.

Looking forward to seeing this. When you install the downpipes let us know how the fitment is with the AWE catback. AMS is right in my back yard so if it fits well I may have to pick up a set.

Will do. Wish they were in my backyard. Quality of work seems really good.

Did they make couplers for you to get the downpipes to mate up to the AWE? I just bought the AWE but I have the Milltek downpipes and I'm not sure what's required yet to make it fit?

Yes. If you look in the attached picture towards the bottom, there are two couplers they made to connect and flow down to connect with either stock exhaust or in my case the AWE exhaust.

Sounds like the start of something wonderful. Would love to hear details about your integrated system as I have on also.

Once you get the AMS setup, you will see how first class it is. Perfect setup and it worked perfectly during all our data logs under WOT for over a mile. You learn a lot about what works and how these motors operate when logging for a mile with the gas peddle floored

It does not fit, and requires much modification to work. Plumbing is all wrong with the RS7.....

They're nice to have. Audi actually uses them on a lot of their OEM turbo to manifold connections, not on the turbo to downpipes that I recall seeing ...

    Are those OEM RS7 turbos?
If so, where did you get them and how long did it take from order to delivery?
Just curious as I am waiting for a replacement turbo for my RS7.

Quick question. Do our cars burn a lot of oil? I've only driven mine for about 900 miles and already the oil reading is over half way between max and minimum line. I could swear sometimes sitting at a red light I can smell an oil burning smell. Can't tell if it's coming from my vehicle or someone else's. Now I'm paranoid. Any advice??

Mines done 11,500km and the displays showing just below half. I think this is pretty normal based on other Audi's I've owned. Older Audi/VW manuals used to allow a litre a month, to cover worst case scenarios.

Thanks guys. It still shouldn't show below half after 1000 miles, I'll check it again in the morning once it warms up. I checked earlier today while driving after going through heavy traffic for over an hour.

The best time to check it is when the vehicle has been sitting for a while (engine stopped) and is on level ground.

No sure how he would get the V Clamps to work on his application. The AMS downpipes are flanged so he would only be able to clamp on the AWE side of the system.

Not the turbo flange side, but the other end of the down pipe... to replace the 3 bolt flange and gasket. The V-band clamps are machined to tolerance so you don't need gaskets....

    S6 Stage 3 Build Thread

Just updating my thread. Install begins this week! Big thanks and shout out to ToyBarn in Dublin, OH who is doing the install. Front grill, AMS cooling upgrade, AMS Downpipes, RS7 turbos, RS7 intake and inlet pipes, APR stage 3 tune ECU and TCU. Will post pictures throughout the week as they send them to me. We will also be doing a before and after dyno runs to see the pre versus post gains.

Also got some sweet wheels from DPE that will be put on. Huge thanks to Madyspop for hooking me up with these. Note: you will need small spacer for S6 to clear front big brakes. Size of wheels are 20 X 9.5 with 35 offset. It was just a fraction from clearing. Still determining what size is needed 3mm or 5mm

Ok. Baseline dyno was run today. Here's clip of car on dyno. Baseline came in at 462 wheel horsepower and 514 torque. I'm only running APR stage 1 tune right now.

Do those numbers track with what APR tells us we're getting out of Stage 1? The conversion process when it comes to measuring power always confuses me.

APR claims 488 whp and 584 wtq on their website charts with stage 1 tune. So I'm a little light on whp but seems to be a more significant gap on torque. Then again I'm in Columbus OH, little bit higher on sea level and DA levels are higher. Also different dynos always produce different results. My main focus will be to get this baseline and then compare improvements post stage 3 install.

Since it's a Dynojet you can use SAE correction which will correct for weather conditions. Can you post the chart?

Those turbo are made by IHI, yes? I noticed that each one has a slightly diff ID#. ICSI 2224.0 and ICSI 2225.0 I assume to signify left from right. Also looks like the manifold and turbine housing are one piece, is that the case? Turbine housing outlet resembles a Garret T3 bolt pattern, V band would be nice and much easier to attach/detach. Do you know if the center cartridge is journal bearing type? Thanks.

Do you know if the center cartridge is journal bearing type? Thanks.
I believe you're right different ID numbers to clarify right from left. I don't have the turbos in front of me nor have the technical aptitude of whether they are built as one piece or the center cartridge question you mention. I purchased these from Alex at Europrice. If he or some one else who has more technical expertise can address these questions.

Aftermarket grill is going on today. Shop told me it was a PIA to get the front camera to fit properly and they relocated the laser jammers to the bottom Quattro section. No other real place to put them. Doesn't block the Quattro lettering that much. Let me know what you think. Couldn't help but put the rs6 badge on!!

there are a number of posts here that all seem to conclude that placing your laser jammers that low is not a good idea. See S4Per's posts/website on the modifications he made to his grill to get the jammers mounted higher on the grill rather than putting them in the less optimal position where you have them now.

Yes. I did read that but my jammers appear to be an older version or little bit longer/bigger in size. I couldn't cut or integrate them into the grill. I have seen some where they've mounted them behind the honeycomb grill but I would think that would be less effective. I realize they are lower than ideal. I think it's at about the same height as where they were on my current grill.

I see what you're saying. Those appear to be twice the length of S4Pers. End of the day, that location is probably better than nothing at all.
