    2015 RS5 for CPO'd 2015 Porsche Panamera? Opinions/Thoughts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Need advice please. I'm considering trading in my 2015 RS5 for a 2015 Panamera S4. I love my RS5 but HATE 2 doors. I thought I could wait for US RS4 release but it doesn't seem likes it's happening for 2017.

Price difference with trade-in is $25,500. The Panamera is pretty loaded with rear and side sun shades, adaptive air, seat ventilation, park assist, BOSE sound, yada, yada. Best of all, it's never been registered ("executive loaner" by dealership) so I would be first owner on Carfax. Only 3500 miles (same as my RS5).

Thoughts...opinions... are welcomed. I have donned my flame suit.

Thanks to scottykenneth for opening up this bag of worms.

I was a fan of the Panamera up until I drove down PCH while visiting my friend and saw about 50 of them in a single day.

Get the Panamera, something special about a Porsche...
The RS7 idk, I respect it but I don't have a desire for one.

I agree with @hazemyth. They are everywhere. Dime a dozen. RS7 or evenS7 would be my choice if I needed the 4 doors. Maybe we'll get the RS5 Sportback.

I'd get an S7 even over a Panamera. Yeah, it's a Porsche but it's not much of a looker at all (I think they are hideous from the rear) and I see tons of them as well. Got two neighbors that just park them out in their driveways and I don't live in a very fancy neighborhood.

As others have stated, I would give great consideration to an RS7, S7 or perhaps even an S8. If by your signature description you intend on modifying (even if just a little) which of the two brands allows for the greatest amount of modifying on a per dollar basis? The greatest horse power/torque, suspension, etc... gains per dollar spent. If however, like me, CPO is your greatest concern, then you would be left with a stock to stock comparison. I have never driven an RS7 or the Porsche Panamera for that matter, but the reviews and threads make a very compelling case for this car versus the Porsche Panamera. If you have driven both, what are your thoughts and comparisons? If not, I would make that a priority to do before you trade your RS5 in for the Porsche Panamera and are left with some lingering doubt about the performance the RS7. Either way, I doubt you'd be disappointed, definitely a first world problem to have. Lastly, if you do decide to trade your RS5 in, I may be interested in the end links/sway bars AWA the Alu Kreuz if U part it out & go back to stock. I think the AK will fit a Cabriolet but not sure. Keep us posted & good luck.

I didn't even think of driving an RS7 when testing the Panamera. And the Audi dealership was right around the corner. Doh! I will test drive it in 2 weeks when I'm back up in Portland. I will be in touch about sway bars, end links and Alu Kreutz if I decide to made a trade. Thanks.

I am a die hard Porsche nut. There is no other affordable (relatively) sports car that even comes close in my mind. I went from a 997.2 to RS5 and right back to Porsche in just over a year. Could not wait to get back to Porsche.

But, and here is a big but, the Panny is a dog unless you want a limousine. They are slow, slow, slow until you get into the turbo models. There is no way I would own a Panny, Panny S or either of the 4 wheel drive models. The only thing I like about them is the interior which is really nice. I looked, I drove, and I considered. But, I came to realize I would hate driving it all the time.

If you really want four doors, get the RS7. Otherwise keep the RS5.

The AK will fit with some minor modification. My shop sandwiched the AK between the lower frame and the the stock brace. For this we located longer bolts to secure the AK to the frame . Worked perfectly and really tightened up the cabrio.

I'd get a panamera over a 7, but probably not that one. It was a loaner. Even though it's an "executive" you'd still have to assume it's had a hard 3500 miles.

I'd go for the S6. The RS cars are special, but I'm not a fan of the 7 series, so I'm out on the RS7. With the S6, you get the turbo V8, 4 doors, and it looks so much cleaner than the Panamera.

I'm not a huge fan of the Panamera's aesthetics. I prefer the S7's interior, too. You get an extra liter of displacement and two more cylinders with the Audi, and a car that's quite a bit quicker than a 4S. If I were going to consider a Panamera, it would have to be a Turbo/Turbo S, and even then an RS7 would still be hard to look past. I know the Panny is a bit more direct in the handling department but everything else goes to the Audi for me.

I think Audi has really hit a home run with the latest gen S7/RS7 as a total package.

If you're concerned about AWD you should try looking into the new e63 AMG, me personally I'd buy the F10 M5 but that's just my opinion lol

+ 1 to this & 734jeant, just finished a Audizine Cruise w/a tuned S6 in the group, my RS5 Cab & Pedro's RS5 Coupe w/Eventuri (see Starved Rock Run for pic's & video mid west regional forum, Thx to Randy). We couldn't come close to keeping up w/pawels1 tuned S6 (Revotechnik), smoked us. IIRC the Panny U R looking @ is similar to HP for the RS5. Even a stock S6/S7 would likely pull away from us, let alone allow us to keep up. RS7 is another level AWA tuning any of those listed. If raw acceleration is the thing that puts smiles on UR face, don't think the Panny will do it, handling perhaps/probably. Just more to think about.

    The truth has been spoken!

In all seriousness I would pick the M5 and the last gen CLS63 AMG over the GSF.

If power is a concern, there is an RS7 style turbo kit for the S7. If you have the option to go RS7 then do it. It's really special.

Thanks IUC2. Good information, for sure. I'm leaning more and more towards S7 (or RS7). Just need to drive both.

So, I took Audiman33's advice and drove a GTS. Didn't like the color combo of the one I drove but found one in Ohio that fits the bill. Now, for the long wait for it to get to the West Coast. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and opinions.

    2015 RS5 for CPO'd 2015 Porsche Panamera? Opinions/Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat. I'm taking some time to ponder my jump to 4 doors - probably next year - and I'll chip in my 2 cents.

    RS6 I would take in a heartbeat.

That being said, the RS7 I want to love but can't. Somehow 550hp is made boring. It's just too big and too quiet. I almost bought one and then I drove one and just couldn't see myself in it. Great car absolutely but as mentioned by others I almost would rather take a tuned S7 as I think it actually looks and sounds better.

Panamera is an abomination and I'm not even a P guy.

M6 gran coupe is likely where I'm headed as it has looks, power, handling, beautiful interior, and with the akrapovic exhaust sounds amazing. They are rare (around here at least) and as such I've only driven a 650 and an M5 and would be expecting the M6 to have the best attributes of both. The M5 I find is ugly and has a terrible interior, while the 6 is far better in all regards. Only problem is RWD until the next gen in 2019/20. I've done RWD before and just need to decide if I'm willing to go back. Quattro would be hard to leave.

I hate Mercs. The new S class looks weird but is pure luxury and actually great to drive. Still would never buy one.

I hate Lexus - but that 5.0 V8 is one of the best sounding out there. Haven't driven the GSF but the old ISF was an extremely fun car to drive.

At the end of the day it sounds cliche but don't buy any of these cars without driving one first. Preferably all of them to get a better idea of the differences. At this price point I would go as far as driving one in a different city if currently unavailable or arranging for one to be brought to me. These cars are extremely subjective and it's amazing the change you will have in your impressions once you are actually behind the wheel.

Panamera is pretty ugly looking. Looks like a glorified hatchback.

Wait... The RS7 too quiet? CB Tuning near me has a shop RS7 with a few goodies tune wise & exhaust & it sounds PRETTY DAMN nasty. Here is a quick vid of it on the dyno. WAIT... for it....

They also do a SHIT ton of Porsche work there, here is a customer with a newly tuned GT3. Looks like he needs a tips & tricks booklet lol. I bet that guy went home smiling.

^^ The link is all wonky, can't post just the vid. Just click it and the rs7 is the white one 8 videos down on the dyno, and the GT3 is the very first vid on the page. I'll see if i can get the correct links. But i have been there and that RS7 rev'd up ins pretty pretty damn loud.
