    Cool New B6 Avant owner

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I just picked up an 04 A4 3.0 Avant with 120k on it. So far a great car. The only issues I've noticed so far with the car is the passenger window regulator seems to be bad (window only rolls partially down) and I hear a little humming noise coming from the front (sounds like a flute). Other than that I had the engine light come on with the 02 sensor code and a 0741 code which stated it was a clutch solenoid. But as of now the car rides and shifts fine.

BTW I also own a 2012 S5 so I'm a huge audi fan, great looking cars!!

    Welcome to the club!

You didn't happen to check into the P0741 error did you...? You're not going to like what it means, but maybe you got a good deal or are experienced with these cars. That particular problem isn't common on the B6, MUCH more common on the older 5hp19 in the B6 and C5/A6.
That humming noise is likely a wheel bearing. Not a huge issue, it happens.

I haven't looked in to the error code yet. Feel free to enlighten me if you've had experience with it before. As for the humming, its not when I'm driving its at idle when I start the car and or when I'm just sitting...

Plenty of people feel that way. The newer Audi's just don't drive the same. The b6 feels super connected to the road. The new cars feel to artificial.

the error cod efor the TC lockup clutch means the Torque converter has a bad seal, has almost no effect on driving as the Lock-up clutch engages in 3rd gear and disengages any time the trans shifts or load / throttle input changes. Bad part is you have to replace the torque converter to fix it.
Not the worst thing in the world, but I bought an S4 once that had that code- previous owner had cleared errors and I didn't catch it until a couple days later- but it kind of puts a frown on a car you just bought.

Got it. Yea I bought the car from the auction, clean ride. only had it for about 2-3weeks. I called a place already to price the install so I'm probably just going to get the TC replaced. I been looking at the 2.7T swap, interesting to say the least, may have to look in to that mod..lol.
