    So it finally happened with 153k on the clock the codes came for the cam adjusters. My question is do I fix the 4.2 or swap in a 2.7t? I have the time and tools and many mechanics willing to help as my family is the owner of multiple repair shops.

    Does it use oil? What do the bores look like? If the rest of the motor is in good shape, I'd rebuild it.

    I'm really putting thought into this one. I don't have the motor laying around how ever I could find one pretty cheap on car-part. It does consume oil at about a quart every 1000. I am interested in modding my only concern is that automatic trans in my car!😔

    Im sure the automatic could keep up with the power up to a stage 2. Which is already plenty of power.
    And it does sound that the oil consumption is getting pretty bad so its really up in the air what i would do in your situation...
