I am back - my RS4 B5 purchase story

Greetings to everyone.

Haven't posted anything for ages but never lost interest in the family. Now I am back with something I am really excited about: A beautiful RS4 . Personally I have never had similar feelings about any other car beside a RS4 B5 since I can think. During this year personal background was fine enough so that I was able to pull the trigger. But guess what? Even here in germany the market was ... small ... smaller...nearly at zero. I started looking seriously back in december 2015 and visited the first seemingly good vehicles in february 2016 and always came back with frustration. There was always a problem. Crazy history - worn interieur - too many owners - crazy modifications and so on. I realized that it was seemingly already nearly too late to buy such a car on budget. When I almost gave up this blue one popped up in the internet. A fresh import from switzerland (original switzerland delivery), 2nd owner, 156.000 KM on the clock, obviously well kept. New service, new timing belt job along with water pump + new gasket cover sealings + ... So that import dealer knew what to do. Everything went on pretty quick then. Me and my wife travelled down south by train and picked it up. We took a roadtrip northbound and put the first 700 flawless kilometers on that ride.

Here she is. Fully loaded, nogaro on black, carbon trim interieur. Audi nav system, even 6-cd changer in the back. This was the first quick shot down in southern germany with temporary transit licence plates on.

That sounds about right. All cheap RS4s I found in Switzerland had major issues. So I wonder what your budget was. I have had several random people come ask me if I wanted to sell, so market is small but still desirable.

Thanks guys. Defintely not my house - no worries in any way . And yes I have a very safe locked place for the car. It is still major potential subject of auto theft like hell. Another dealer told me he lost 3 cars in one night to theft.

Americans still have to wait 9 years till you can import RS4s as oldtimer without the common problems. I have the fear in nine years there won't be any vehicles left which are worth to be imported. Currenty there are around 750 RS4 B5 registered in germany (plus the hidden sleepers without registration). The dealer said switzerland is nearly sold out of cars already.

We are 37 lucky owners in Sweden
A thumb of rule when buying RS4 b5 is. It is cheaper to buy an expencive one in a long run.

It's well worth it getting a car in reasonable condition with usual issues, mine comes from Swiss too. But i have to tell i've spended ALOT to get it right. The bad part is that these cars start to age (15 years already) and everything that can go broke is going to break at some point. But once your ahead these cars will shine. :)
