Those who have RS7 + DRC who installed KW High Adjustable Springs...Need your opinion

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Searched the forum already, but need more opinions and few questions.

    1) How's the ride when you lowered with KW HAS? Harsher? No Change?

    2) How low did you go front & rear?

    3) How easy is it to change the height after you lowered it? How do you adjust the height? Is it hard to get in there to adjust? Do you need to left the car off to adjust?

Thinking of getting them installed but not sure about the ride quality afterward. Current stock ('16 RS7 + DRC) in Comfort mode is perfect (not floaty like the air suspension but yet not harsh).

I'm also interested in lowering my 2016 RS7 (with DRC). I'm leaning towards H&R springs only. My last experience with KW coilovers (2013 CLS63) was terrible. Even in "comfort mode" they were beyond harsh and made me dread driving over any irregular surfaces. I have been researching this topic for several weeks and outside of a thread started here in 2014, I've not found much. I hope this thread gets some feedback.

KW HAS Springs ride very well, I would say the closest to stock. I had H&R Coils and they rode way worse in terms of comfort.

How low did you go front & rear?

And is it hard to change the height? What does it involve? DO you need to jack the car up to change height?

I just ordered the kW HAS coilovers from TAG. It sounds like it's a 4-6 hour install and probably best to have dealer or shop installed. I understand that you can adjust height further even after install is complete.

    Anyone else have any experience/opinions?

I found a good deal on KW HAS and would like to purchase & lower my car...but am afraid its going to get the ride too harsh.

Currently my 16 RS7+DRC Stock height in comfort is perfect.

Everyone seems concerned about lowering and then getting a harsher ride. This is a virtual guarantee. The spring has to be stiffer if it is shorter and still going to properly suspend the car. The best way to minimize this is the get a proper spring/shock combo so that the dampers are designed to work with the higher rate springs. This is particularly important on a heavy car like the RS7. I would never just do springs alone when modifying the suspension of a car. There are likely not a lot of suspension options for such a limited volume car, especially given the fact that this is not really a track or back-road burner. Air suspension is the way to go if you want to lower. I agree that if you have the DRC option, it is likely best to leave it alone.

I installed the KW HAS and Eurocode sways to my RS7 (w DRC) last year and love it. The car is slightly harsher in Comfort, but not really noticeable unless you are in Dynamic mode, where you will really notice the difference. I generally drive the car in Individual Mode setup with Comfort suspension settings unless I want to have fun, then move into Dynamic. The Eurocode sways are worth every penny as the car is way more stable than before. Note that the DRC is already much less "floaty" than the air-ride suspension, but now it is rock solid.

There is not a whole lot of range in drop with this system (5 - 30 mm front, 0 - 25 mm rear). I only dropped the car about half that much and will be going about 10 - 15 mm lower once I have my wheels milled slightly, as the 295s on the right rear marginally rub the fender with passengers in the back (of full trunk) when I hit a large dip/bump.

The kit comes with tools to adjust the height which I have not used yet, so I cant comment on how easy it is to DIY. Definitely need to take wheels off and put on a lift / jack to do it; however, I was told that if you change the height it is best to get an alignment done, so you may as well have your shop adjust the height if you don't like the initial setup.

Overall, I am very happy with the KW HAS / Eurocode setup.

Thx guys for all the info.

Taken in what all you said..I think I'm going to leave my height alone.

The only reason I like to lower is for the aesthetics, but to sacrifice the ride quality (albeit minimal) + minimal drop range possible + difficult to DIY adjust height (jack car up, take wheel off, possible alignment afterward)...its not worth all the trouble.

I pick up my 2016 RS7 last week and had several goodies to install. The only thing I held off on was the KW HAS coilovers. A brand new box sits in my garage. The stock DCR setup is just about perfect and I'm going to hold off messing with it. What did make a big improvement aesthetically was swapping out the stock 275 Dunlops for 285/30/21 Pilot Sports and adding 10mm ECS spacers. That change improved the stance dramatically without altering the feel of the OEM suspension. I have about a two finger gap now and the wheels/tires are pretty flush. I figure I could lower it about 10mm without rubbing but I'm not sure it's worth it.

Just to chime in, we have a set on our in house RS7 currently and we could not be happier. The ride is still very good, incredible handling, and with the aftermarket wheels it looks perfect! The thing to keep in mind here is that they are a progressive spring with a helper spring also installed to make up for the space on rebound. That said the ride quality really does not suffer much at all.

TAG installed my KW Has springs with new control arms about 3 weeks ago on my 2016 RS7 with DRC and it rides absolutely perfect, no change in ride quality at all. I was nervous but it worked out perfectly. Especially if you have after market wheels

bdo...How far did you lowered front & Rear?

Do you have any pics of before lower vs after lowered?

What's the reason you got new control arms?

I don't know exactly the measurements, I just did it to how it looked good to me visually. I added SPC front upper control arms to keep the front camber in line with OEM specifications so I don't have any tire wear issues like TAG recommended.

    After

Did you have to take to dealer for lane assist adjustments or anything?
