    Broken kombi hose help quick

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I was installing a new gasket set for valve covers when I accidentally over flexed the kombi valve hose as I have just learned to call it and I'm wondering how vital it really is to the car running? How much do new hoses cost? Does anyone have a diy on making new lines(not just deleting them)? As much help as I can get is great. I need to know if I can drive it again on Monday by the time gaskets are done fully.

    Thanks

You should be able to just duplicate the hose with some rubber coolant hose, some clamps, and a few fittings.

Is the combi hose completely off the car?

Awesome that sounds doable. Ya I took the whole thing off since today I gotta do the drivers side seals. I'll try to hit a part source and get those hoses.

Kombi valves and SAI system has zero effect on how or whether the car runs. It exists to warm up the cats faster on cold start for better emissions. You can fix teh Kombi / Air system with literally any hose you can find laying around. All I had once was some crappy plastic irrigation drip hose to patch a vacuum line, but guess what? fixed!

Awesome thanks for that I was going to leave the car parked until I could buy a new one but decided to make one. I got all the pics for the diy hose I made not sure if I should just post it for anyone else who wants to make one for under $10.
Got everything put back on and started. Nearly crapped myself think I fudged the timing on the cams because it started and sounded like a tdi. Research says it's probably the stupid gasket that fell off the kombi valve and I didn't see it because I have to work in a blind zone.

Are you talking about the hose from the pump to the valve or the vacuum hose?

If its the vacuum hose, you only need some 5/32" vacuum hose and no clamps.

No it was the hard plastic hose not the vacuum.

Worst that'll happen is you'll get that noise at startup from the broken plastic air line. To avoid this you can just pull the vacuum line off the kombi valves, or one off the Nxx..?valve a majigger. Can't remember what number they gave it; but at cold start the ECU uses vacuum from the canister under the washer reservoir to trigger the valve to operate the Kombi valves via vacuum.
If you pull the vacuum line off, the Kombi valves won't open and you won't get cold-start-helicopter-exhaust-leak noise..you'll get a CEL for incorrect flow, but you already have that.

Nope I have no cel for anything actually. I had something else I just noticed too on the oil pan. Is it normal to have patch looking thing with a rubber line coming from it?
