Building upon the phenomenal success we have enjoyed with our B8, C7 & 8R Audi ÜSS program, our goal was to also provide the finest setup for the MQB chassis.

To achieve equal results, our team has purchased a MK7 GTI, Golf R, A3 and S3 for in-house development. We have found that it is important to own the vehicles in order to perform long term R&D testing, which allows us to maximize performance benefits.

As most of you have experienced, the MQB chassis is quite different than anything VAG has previously released. The MQB handling is pretty darn good right out of the gate, therefore, quite a bit of design went into each and every component in both computer modeling as well as rapid prototyping.

Because we own the cars, drive the cars and are true enthusiasts, we never release a product until we feel it is the best!

Customer feedback is very important to us. We were thrilled one day when a customer stated that after installing our MQB strut tower and chassis brace, it was like “adding a sport mode 2 button” to the MQB.

Objective feedback is great, however, we are one of those old school number types, so we always test our products against the competition. To achieve this, we compared each of our sway bar prototypes against three other major sway bar “mass production” companies.

Track times, ride quality, chassis predictability and tire degradation were considered. Ultimately we chose to release what we feel is the finest stabilizer bar set available.

Each year we enter automotive magazine shootouts. We do this to benchmark the performance of our products against the rest of the industry. In the 2015 European Car Golf Tuner GP, which was published January 2016, we entered our development GTI and Golf R, outfitted with our MQB Uberlings Stabilizer System, front upper strut brace, rear chassis brace, transmission tunnel brace and transmission mount insert. The chassis improvements were instrumental in overcoming limitations of street tires on the track, securing a podium finish for both cars.

European Car magazine provided a completely stock 2015 Golf R as a “control vehicle” for the Tuner GP. The control vehicle with driver Boris Said was able to put down some very respectable lap times, with their best measure coming in at 1 minute, 19.331 seconds. With our chassis improvements our Golf R lap times improved by nearly 2 seconds to 1 minute 17.478 seconds at stock power levels. Our MK7 FWD GTI also bested the lap times of the control Golf R, coming in at 1 minute, 19.086 seconds. The best part is that our MK7 GOLF R had a completely “STOCK” ECU calibration as 2016 software had yet to be released!!

With the EuroCode ÜSS MQB suspension suite (sway bars, links, arms, chassis brace and forthcoming adjustable camber plates, our aim was to develop a product which would be superior to anything currently on the market. The first thing we did was purchase a VW MK7 GTI/Golf R and 8V Audi A3/S3 to build the ground foundation on.

This meant not being first to release the product, and spending an enormous amount of time testing the vehicle with various configurations on several tracks. We purchased three of the most popular products currently on the market and set times lap after lap using those, as well as three different sets of our prototype bars.

What we found, is that while all made an excellent off the shelf product using linearly increased bar tensions, they did not maximize the handling capabilities of the newly redesigned MQB.

We also found during our testing, and to our surprise, that the “right” front bar was necessary to keep the front end from being loose, however, its tension should not be increased in a linear fashion both in the front and rear, as many had done with their product. The “old skool” rear bar only mentality on a fwd/awd car due to a heavy nose was no longer a part of the program.

Our testing proved that the front bar was equally as critical as the rear in the MQB on both FWD and AWD vehicles, and that the key to dialing this car in is long term testing and ownership of R&D vehicles. Not hypothetical values and test fitment. This hypothetical value/test fitment strategy used by many of the big names releasing products for 100+ applications means an average product in many cases. One thing to note is that the outer diameter (OD) of any tubular bar does not indicate its strength, but rather the inner diameter (ID). This means that although our bar may have the same OD of other bars, our ID is different. This allows us to control how much increase went to the front, while still maintaining the balance and reducing almost all of the push on both FWD and AWD vehicles. The 3 adjustable points in the front allow you to dial in the bar based on the requirements of the driver/track even further.

I have personally piloted these cars and have managed times at a local track under 2 seconds off of a 991 GT3, which I also had the privilege to pilot. This is the most mind blowing part about this chassis when you consider that you can have a 25-35K car that delivers 150K car performance.

The moral of this story is that the previously unheard of front bar use is required in the “right” tension, and that if you don’t own the car, test the car with your product versus the others, you don’t know if your product is the absolute best on the market.

One thing is for sure, we have achieved our goal to produce a product that not only leaves the competition in the dust, but makes the MQB chassis application one super-car level competitive beast!

The results speak for themselves. However, our engineering team is so confident with our MQB Sway Bar Kits for FWD and AWD MQB chassis, that the first 100 customers that purchase our product and are not satisfied with the results will receive a FULL REFUND.*

    Frequently asked Questions:

Q: Some of the aftermarket sway bars come with aluminum or steel installation brackets with grease fittings, why do you retain the OEM?
A: We modeled and conducted stress analyses on both stock and billet brackets and found no added benefit. The factory bracket is 100% capable of securing both the factory bar as well as our bar, without any change in deflection under load. The only advantage we found on some of the brackets was that the sway bar did not need to be removed to re-grease the bushings. However, we did not feel that was enough of a benefit for the added cost. We will be making a zerk style bracket in the near future for those interested in such a product.

Q: Are your adjustable front and rear end links required for installation?
A: Our sway bars will work with both the OEM endlinks as well as our ÜSS spherical adjustable front and rear endlinks. However, to use all settings on the rear sway bar the use of our spherical endlinks is required. This is due to the lack of articulation from the factory rear link.
