01E swap into Noggy TIP soon, need advice on preventative maintenance stuff

A little about the car... 2001 Nogaro/Nogaro TIP with 105K miles, no major issues since ive been driving it about a year now.

So im about to take the plunge in a month or two. Still slowly gathering parts but I literally almost have everything for the swap. I plan on pulling the entire engine/trans together. Not decided whether or not im going to drop the subframe or just pull through the front (may be using a lift).

Anyways, this time around I want a nice solid stage 2 car or so. Its stock right now besides a APR bi-pipe and ECU. While the motor is out I was going to replace all the seals, gaskets, vacuum lines, silicone couplers, water pump, timing belt, etc. Anyone recommend anything else? Cam chain tensioners? head gaskets? Id like to get it back together and get a nice tune on the stock twins and run that for a little while.

In regards to the chassis, im leaning towards stern motor and trans mounts (I thought I saw a cheaper solution to these though, but very similar design with changeable inserts). What else would you recommend if I plan on the occasional hard launch with the stock twins? Im going to run the TTV billet flywheel with the 2007 RS4 pressure plate, but not sure if the disk that comes with it will hold up to any decent launches. I wont be doing this all the time, but I have some grudges to settle when the car is done.

Sorry if this post is all over the place. I want it built right/solid but being "smart" with my funds if that makes sense.

you should be good on the clutch.
everything you mentioned sounds like you've done your homework.
if you want to go extra steps you could wrap heat shield material around the inlets and charge pipes. help keep the iat's down and maybe upgrade your side mounts.
you don't "need" them but they can help.
also you can do the center diff mod ( since the 01e is already out )
    it'll help out in cornering.
believe they're about 100 bucks ( washers ) to do this mod on vortex.
(if your interested I can get his user name )

There was a comparison done on myaudis4 (I think this was the site) and it showed there are little to no gains to be had with upgraded SMICs on k03s.

Yes, I have his site on my favorites. I plan on going single turbo next year so ill be ok with the stock intercoolers as I have no plans on going big twins.

Actually yea I remember reading about the mod to change the bias to the center diff with the washers. These can be purchased through McMaster right? If so, I have reps come into my work a few times a week so I should easily be able to get them.

    Found it. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ike-StaSIS-JHM

Steel washers in place of the bronze and Teflon ones? Anyone know the exact size needed? Or just figure it out when I pull the old ones out I guess.

yeah, you're right. guessing on where one lives ( I'm in the south east ) it may not give any gains but I've seen it keep things from getting hotter than it would if they were stock smic, which was where I was going with it. should have clarified I guess.

Right but if you ask me you could just run water or water/meth for cheaper and you'd actually see gains. SMICs would be the worst investment if you weren't planning to go bigger turbos.

No comment on head gaskets or cam chain tensioners? Good PM items? Not necessary? I know in the 5 cylinder world, some didn't have MLS gaskets which was common to switch in preparation for more boost.

Any suggestions on some good gasket kits?

Regarding the washers, im just going to wait and see what I pull out and measure those to make sure the stack is correct. That's a ways down the road anyways.

What kind of quarter mile times are possible with well tuned K03s, bolt ons, and decently solid chassis? Hopefully low 13's is possible maybe even 12's.

Im thinking im just going to plan on doing new head gaskets and perhaps ARP head studs. Pricey but I think it will be worth it for piece of mind that everything sealing the head to the block is fresh.

head studs...Meh, I would just use stock head bolts. if you were pushing high HP and boost I would say yeah. but for k03's..stock head bolts/gaskets will do just fine.(new)
