    Satellite Radio Help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My car was originally equipped with an RNS-E and Park Distance control. I recently bought a Sirius satellite radio receiver Part# 8E0 035 593D and my car is not recognizing the device. Do I need to code in the receiver via VAG-COM/VCDS? If so how do I do it. If not did I purchase a bunk receiver? Thank in advance for the help.

Make sure the part number is compatible with your car then call Sirius to transfer to the new box

I believe the part number to be correct as I did research before I bought it, but am beginning to believe it may not be right as the car cant see it. I can not even access the channels so I may activate the box.

    Sorry, but the "D" version won't work. You need to source an "E" : 8E0 035 593 E

I tried the "E" version today also and still had the same issue with the RNSE not recognizing the receiver. This makes me think its something that needs to be VCDS/VAG-COMd in. Anyone??

You might check and see if that purple plug has been switched over. By the passenger seat, on the right side, under the glove box.

"You have to switch the CAN BUS connection near the passenger foot well - Don't be intimidated - this is a peace of cake. Don't be afraid to pull straight up on the plastic molding. Removing the CAN BUS connector is tricky - I fought with the dang thing for over 20 minutes before I was able to sneak it out. It has some kind of clip on it to release it and I couldn't figure it out for a while, then it just popped out on me. So, if anyone has a trick on this (besides playing around with it for 20 minutes) feel free to post. Really - it's easy. Once this connection is switched - see photos and directions in PDF, you are done and you just have to call Sirius or XM to set up." - Link

In regards to the actual module, I found this as well:
    "8E0 035 593/8E0 057 593 Sirius without RNS-E and without tire pressure monitoring system

    8E0 035 593 A/8E0 057 593 A XM without RNS-E and without tire pressure monitoring system

    8E0 035 593 D/8E0 057 593 D Sirius for RNS-E and/or with tire pressure monitoring system, works with Concert/Symphony as well

    8E0 035 593 E/8E0 057 593 E XM for RNS-E and/or with tire pressure monitoring system, works with Concert/Symphony as well"

    My '07 came with: 8E0 035 593 F

NYC, are you adding a sirius module where you didn't have one before, is that correct? Do you have a cd changer or ipod in the glovebox?

I bought the car with it installed, You can find the Audi iPod hookup kits online however, it's a bit antiquated now a days. I'm forced to use a 30pin to lightning adapter on mine. It's routed through the glove box to the back of the RNSE. However, if I were you I'd just spring for the Denison adapter and be done with it, it has many more features and IMHO a much better way to go.

You do have to code it with vagcom, your coding should be similar to 0329666

Okay, makes sense now. As junaid mentioned below, double-check your coding first. That may be the easy button...

So many of the aftermarket iPod adapters actually use the sat radio circuit. In many cases, it's a 'one or the other' scenario. I honestly don't recall the specifics as it's been years since I was really familiar with the system. Check the telematics section or the RNS-E section of audiforum.us, that has all the content from the old navplus.us forum. Hopefully that gets you moving in the right direction.
