Well it only took the California DMV 3 times (and 9 months) to finally get it right, after 2 mistakes including a stamping mistake! Haha...



Love how CA has the black plates as an option! Just need to get my tail lights a little tinted now, to clean the look up a bit.

Takes 3 months for each order it seems... so when they messed up the first time on my order form, I was pissed. When they messed up the SECOND time (stamped "AUDI 56", mistake at the prison) I was EXTREMELY pissed. Finally got the right plate yesterday, but man what a fiasco.

Did you do the online application or paper form? I ordered mine online a couple weeks ago, hoping it would be here close to when my car gets here in 3-4 more weeks.

Online, just depends on their backlog. This last plate (after messing up the first 2 times) was ordered on December 21, just got the plate yesterday! That being said, I've ordered custom plates in CA for 3 other cars, and it was usually 8 weeks.

Wish I could get a black plate with yellow letters.
It does only take one week to get them now though. Pretty quick.
Just bought a used Golf R today to beat around in a bit... Might go 1SNAILZ and maybe 0SNAILZ on my wife's Q7 .. Lol

You don't have to smog vehicles in CA until they're 5 years or older... and there's no "inspections" like other states have, where they check your intake and exhaust. If you pass emissions, you pass the test... that's it.

What I like most is that they're actually metal stamped/painted plates. A lot of states just print them now, which is kinda lame. Love the classic stamped plate!

Ours here in Texas are made at a prison too, but they are still printed, not stamped.

I've got the Texas plate "Quicker" for my S8. Maybe too bold but it's pretty accurate for the street.

Yeah, sucks that many states have started doing that... really loses the classic appeal! My plates in Nevada were like that, didn't like it at all. These should last for a century, when stamped and painted properly (not that the car will be).

I was originally going to do OIO until my fiancé said it looks like a penis.

Soooo 15 weeks and still waiting for my personalized legacy plate here in CA. Called the DMV this morning and they state timeline is now 4-6 months, as opposed to previously stated 8-12 weeks!

Got mine today! Funny that the same day I get impatient and call DMV, it shows up!
Picked it up from the DMV, and plasti dipped the emblems and chrome part of the grill to match! Got dark by the time I finished, so pics tomorrow after a good wash!
