    Motor salvageable?

Hello all, I'm looking at a 2004 S4 with manual trans and 95500 miles. Car has some vibration at idle which increases on acceleration. Mechanic at the dealership says cylinder 1 is at 65 psi and remaining cylinders are around 130 psi. Also, cylinder 1 has 90% leakdown. The mechanic also said that some of the vibration was probably coming from something involving the clutch system (flywheels maybe). So my question is, is the motor salvageable? Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Cylinder 1 being low compression and leakdown points to either cylinder scoring (generally considered "unfixable" on these motors, although it's not necessarily impossible) AND/OR valve stem seals are leaking. I am not sure how to differentiate between the two or if the leakdown is an indicator or either way. I think the next step there would be a borescope look inside the cylinder.

Re: Vibration. With the 6MT that sort of vibration is typically attributed to the stock dual-mass flywheel going out. Google that and you'll see quite a bit on that topic with this platform.

That's my $0.02 on what I've learned from poking around here for a while. I'm not a master mechanic though so take it with a grain of salt. I'm especially not well versed in the leakdown test so that might be telling you more than I know.
