2.0 OEM Fuel injectors - is this even logical ?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Informed opinions appreciated, pulling the intake m/f off soon to de-carbon,replace cooling parts and so on.Given that I will remove the injectors, needing new seals and cleaning, does it make sense to just buy new injectors and sell the others ?
    Factors;
    Car has done 80k miles
I intend to keep it for potentially another 80k having just spent loads on wheels, stance, preventative maintenance etc
Not going big turbo,so no use for (cheaper) RS4 injectors
The math;OEM supplier Bosch injectors $88 ea supplied with mounted seals.Seal kit about $20,ultrasonic cleaning about $25 ( just guessing ),subtract that and thats about $43 for a brand new injector, ready to plug in saving the hassle of taking injectors to shop etc and I will still have mine to sell ( prob not worth much, but running perfectly )
    Or am I missing something

IMHO, You're throwing away money. Buy 4 injector o-rings just in case they need replaced. If you think they need cleaned (not likely if car is running fine), dump some injector cleaner into your gas tank. I just replaced the teflon seals on mine and they have been in and out probably 5-6 times with no ill effects. You also likely won't be able to sell a set of used stock injectors.

Thanks Adam, thats what I wanted to hear,I really don't have money to throw away for no gain..
The seal you mention is sitting in the rebate, yes ?,do the other blue seals at the top require replacement at first pull ? what do you think ?

What sort of life do these injectors have ? I don't see much talk about failure here,I run the car on 95RON, 98RON will run cleaner but is hard to get around here and expensive...

Yuck 95 RON, you cannot get 98? I thought that was everywhere these days. I got the injector installation set from ECS with the o-rings and seat thingamajigs.

I may have go a little oil on the teflon, I am pretty sure that is not good. What part number is the teflon bit?

Wolfie has been guzzling 95 for 80kms in 3 years and happy on it...
APR said defin. 98 or engine damage,no such thing, that would have evidenced itself by now.
No pre-ignition obvious when heavily loaded,ECU obviously taking care of business...
Oil on the Teflon sleeve ? someone who knows better chime in......I haven't seen it sold separately

The o-rings are sold separately from the injector kits, but i haven't seen the teflon seals sold separately. The teflon should be fine unless you have reused it multiple times already. The o-rings frequently get damaged during intake removal, so be sure to have those on hand. There are both blue and black rubber o-rings for the injectors and they are interchangeable.

Yeah, the teflon seals aren't sold individually. They come as part of a kit with the other seal and clips.

Can't speak to these injectors, but I drove B5's for a total of 492,000 miles, never had an injector problem.

How often have you broken the retainers pulling injectors ? If they often break on removal maybe I should grab some complete kits as well as several o rings.Problem is here in Australia we are stuck with the dealership for urgently needed parts,no FCP Euro,no ECS 24 hr delivery. I try to plan ahead and work up a larger order from the USA to counter this.

If you have the plastic retaining clips, you WILL break at least one. If you have the updated metal ones, you're good to go.

Well Monday came and has nearly gone but I went to a local shop who does injector work and found out that the ultrasonic cleaning cost is $A50 per injector includes flow rate check before and after and (calibration maybe, not sure about that though)
Expensive I thought, what would you guy's pay in the US for that ?
