    Wheel spacers and paint damage?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
For the guys that run wheel spacers on their cars, do you notice any paint damage to the body work behind the wheels? Lower rear of the front fenders/front of the doors etc.

I have a set of 20mm spacers that I fitted to my S6. Although the look was awesome (IMHO) I did not like the tire sticking out beyond the body. Particularly on the lower rear of the front tires. That had fling crap on my paint written all over it so I took them out.

Living in NE Pennsylvania there is a lot of crap to fling!

    Thanks in advance,
    CK

Do a smaller spacer maybe a 15mm or 10mm and go more flush to the fender

Cover the area with paint protection film.

Yep, I could do something like that. I have the 20's in the 'stock pile'.

Maybe I'll just throw some trucker mud flaps on LOL.

I have a 2012 white A7 and the factory installed film has turned yellow. I got a couple of rolls of this film to protect the door bottoms, rocker panel and rear bumper cover under the hatch. Just waiting for some warm weather to install.

I just put 17.5 on front and 20 rear. Though I think I could have gone 17.5 all around, the look is fantastic and worth the crap fling imo. Handling is much improved as well. In the winter I'll be running stock with where the road debris is excessive.

I did 15mm all around. The look is great, but the real bonus was the improvement in handling.

My RS7 has the ECS RS7 Wheel Spacer Flush Kit (20mm Front, 17.5mm Rear).

I had my whole car wrapped in Xpel Ultimate + Opticoat Plus on top...so no rock damaging the paint.

What brand film did you go with? A higher end product shouldn't do this. You also need to protect over the film, however, with a good sealant of some sort.

Same here, Xpel and a coating for protection. Spaced wheels definitely throw up a lot more road debris.
